Excellent. Caramelly and full-bodied, not too sweet, and a pleasant bitter aftertaste, great bockbeer.

Tasted this beer on the Bockbeer festival in Utrecht, The Netherlands, on draft. It is a shame this beer is now only available on draft and not on the bottle. Brand (of the Heineken corp.) is known for a good range of interesting quality beers. Brand DubbelBock is one of the best Bock beers of the Netherlands. The appearance is good, nice dark color a good head. Not much aroma in the smell. The beer has a good balance, nice caramel flavour but not too sweet. Again this year, Brand Dubbelbock is one of top 5 Dutch bockbeers.

The DM & Hotstuff’s European Honeymoon trip beer number 113. This bottled brew poured a medium sized head of fine to medium sized long lasting off-white colored bubbles that left behind an unnoted lacing. The body contained no carbonation, was transparent and brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of mild sweet malts . Its mouth feel is biting vinous and malty. Its flavor contained bock like vinuous sweet malty notes and was very tasty. All-in-all very nice brew. An excellent beer that I would buy again.

Excellent bock beer. One of my favourite bock beers. I like the bitter taste, has much more body than Heineken’s Tarwe bok.

This is one of Hollands better bokbiers. Time to come clean here. It was a rushed drink but it pushed all the right buttons. Gonna re-rate this when I get a better tasting.

still one of Dutch best bockbeer available only on draught since 2003. That's a true drama!! for the homedrinkers. This beer i kept in storage for over 2 years(draught) and compared it with 2002 and 2003. It's so remarkable improved compared too the one we drank than. The dark malty flavours were more balanced now, and the hopps a little bit softer. Now a days the quality of the beer is this outstanding and for me one othe best in the netherlands. Unfortunately they can't compete any more in the best dutch bock election each year because the brewery don't produce the beer in bottles. It's a SHAME.

Very pretty clear red colour. Minimal head. Aroma is fruity and somewhat cherrylike. Fruity taste with some alcaholburn (is not unpleasant). There is a slightly bitterness in the aftertaste. The flavours is not long lasting. Dies almost instantly.

It’s the bock beer amongst the bock beers. Nothing for a heavy drinking session. Try to get som from tap that’s a few years old.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2005 2005: Aroma of apple, caramel and alcohol. Red brown color, beige head, good lace. Sweet, light bitter, butterscotch, bitter finish, sticky. Plain, very alcoholic. 2002: Got a feeling this beer is getting sweeter and less roasted each year. Caramel, chocolat, light roasted aroma. Dark amber color, light brown rocky head, good lace. Sweet, caramel, light roasted. In the finish it gets more roasted and hopbitter. Also some alcohol burn. 2001: A sweet and full barley bock. Not like the wheat bocks that are popular in Holland at the moment.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2013 2013: thought it would be time to rerate :-). Bottled, large sample. Clear amber color, short frothy off-white head. Aroma is light fruity, bit toasted malts, caramel. Bit bitter, quite sweet actually, but not bad to be honest. Caramel touch is pretty nice, but it still is not an impressive bock. Bit boring. Upping the score, because the aroma aint that bad 4-->7. 2002-rate: Clear red brown color. Sharp malty aroma, chemical. Malty taste. Small bitterness in the palate. Not an impressive bock. 3.0 2001-rate: Very clear red-brownish color. Brand is usually a bitter beer, but this dubbelbock didn’t have that typical Brand taste, what is kind of a pity. I wasn’t astonished by it’s great taste i can say. 3.2
