Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Apr 1, 2008 Draught @ Cafe ’T Smalle, Amsterdam. Thin Caramelly malts. Slight metalllic taste. Some toasty malts. not great. pivnizub (3638), Porúří, Germany Feb 29, 2008 Bottle: Copper coloured, huge fluffy off-white tanned head; dark-malty, light alcoholic nose with a fruity touch; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; dark-malty, bitter and light alcoholic finish. Not the best Doppelbock, but all in all quite well drinkable......... Maria (3816), Thisted, Denmark Feb 2, 2008 It’s a nice red amber colored beer with an OK head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, sweetness, caramel, hints of candy sugar and alcohol. The flavour is sweetish with notes of roasted malt, caramel, candy sugar a touch of fruit and alcohol. It’s not my style of beer as such, but it’s OK. MoritzF (3648), Ruhrpott, Germany Jan 10, 2008 (33cl bottle) Clear, bright ruby colour with a medium-sized, slowly lacing, light-beige foamy head. Sweet toast-malty, melanoidinic nose with caramel, liquorice and subtle fruity notes. Sweet, slightly sugary flavour, full bodied with a pleasantly soft carbonation. Toasty malty taste with caramel; sweet but not sticky malty and molassy finish with a light alcoholic burn. Way better than expected.
