2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft glass @ some Holiday Inn in Amsterdam post work presentations. Clear darker amber with an off-white head. Nose is massively metallic, industrial & thin, herbal thin industrial burned caramel affair. Taste is the same, massively industrial thin herbal metallic caramel, processed to death. Thin, industrial caramel body. Promotion material proclaims this to be the oldest specialty beer of the Netherlands, marketing rubbish in the way that this tastes purely like a modern industrial affair. I actually enjoyed the Heineken that I had after this one more to my surprise.

On tap Amsterdam Schipol. Quite nice. High on the caramel malt so a little outside of what I like. But still a nice beer. I would have a couple.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
0.3 l bottle from local ’Gall & Gall’, best before June 2016. Clear, copper with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Sweetish-malty aroma of caramel, honey and grains. Sweet, malty taste of honey, caramel and grains, followed by a medium long, dusty, slightly warming, medium bitter finish. Medium to full body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite tasty, thick and creamy, only a bit boring. Nice!

On tap at de Pannekoekenbakker, Maarssenvesse Plassen. Body is clear amber, head is big, beige, creamy, mostly lasting, excellent lacing. Nose is fruity, caramel, flavor is caramel, tea, light toast, light roasted malt. Medium sweet, light roasty bitter, hint of fruity sour. Finish is medium lasting roasty medium bittersweet. Light body, thin texture, soft carbonation. Easy, refreshing, simple, quite good, not a big deal though.

25cl draft at Cafe Loetje, Amsterdam on 24-Sep-2015. Clear amber pour with a nice creamy head. Aroma of sweet malty biscuit and caramel. Medium body and carbonation. Flavour of barley, sweet malt - some cookie dough and spices. Not bad, but a full bodies bock, suitable for the European autumn.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The beer pours a modest layer of almond colored foam. The beer has a beautiful amber color and is very clear. The beer has a cellar smell, just like the German Altbeer. It is bitter and a little penetrant, not in a bad way. It also reminds a little of wood. The taste is nice. It also tastes like Altbier, and has a little wood taste. There is a hint of stout/porter, caused by the roasted barley. This porter/stout like sensation is also present in the smell. It is quite unique. The beer gives a mouth filling sensation and has a nice tingle. There is a little raisin and bread taste as well. Nice.
