COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Amber, dense quick diminishing head, lots of carbonation, bubbles. Malty caramel-like aroma. Smooth taste, full bodied, somewhat sweet and bitter. Also a bit of a sweet finish, and some bitterness.

Amber brown, clear body and a beige frothy head. Caramel, spices, sugar and earthy. Light sweet and bitter body, bit roasted. Accessible and not very complex. Drier towards the end. Short, bit metallic aftertaste. Sandy and clean mouthfeel. Reasonable, not super exciting. (33cl bottle)

Test vom 19.12.2009, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,5,5,4,8,5 - 5,40

Brown 30cl bottle, best before the end of Sept 2010, drank and reviewed on 14th Sept 2010. Obtained in Valkenburg, Holland. Poured into a vase shaped ’Paderborner Gold Pilsner’ flute. Good amber body with an impressive looking tan coloured foaming head. Some good lacing remained as the head retreated to a collar and the beer level dropped. Malt molasses dominate the nose, some alcohol hints too. Fairly sweet up front, those aforementioned molasses being the main culprits. The alcohol doesn’t hide though and as the mouth dries the 6.5% really comes at you. Only a slight hop presence could I detect, the malty sweetness overpowering whatever hops were in the brew. Body a little on the thin side, which is why the alcohol can be detected so easily. Is it as good as those Munich beers that all end with ’ator’? Not far off in my opinion.

Bottle. Orange pour with a good white head. Some spices in the aroma. Nog really a Dunkler Bock imo. Some alcohol hints in the taste. Decent but could be better. Especially if it is a Dunkler Bock.

I wouldn´t really qualify this as being a Bokbeer rather a Belgian Ale. But a nice one, strong taste of alcohol and hops. Decent.
