Nice color, unimpressive head. Malty caramel in the nose. Alcohol is noticeable. Lots of sugary sweetness hits the palate, making a meager impression. But, the beer gets its act together and delivers some malty goodness accompanied with some red fruits. Remains sweet all the way through the aftertaste, but with the fruitiness it feels less artificial and disturbing. Alcohol again noticeable in the aftertaste and a hint of bitterness. Overall, this is a very characterful beer with a sophisticated delivery, but only if you appreciate the dominating sweetness (which I don’t).

Würziger, dunkel herb hefiger Antrunk. Süffig, wenig bitter. Weiter hefig, dezente Kräuternoten. Reife Banane, vollmundig. 11/10/11/11/11/11

33cl bottle. A very nice strong ale. More then I expected from Brand.

Een prima winter biertje met een mooie diep rode kleur. Redelijk van smaak, maar niks bijzonders

(bottle, 30cl, vintage 2011/12) Clear, chestnut-brown colour with a short and tanned foamy head. Toasty malty aroma with notes of caramel, candy, accompanied by a slightly vinous berry-fruity touch. Sweet flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Mellow toast-malty, slightly sugary taste with caramel and notes of dark and red berries; sweet malty and slightly sticky, also mildly fruity finish with traces of alcohol shining through. A tad too sweet for my liking, nevertheless a decent brew. 26.XII.12

Bottle from Albert Heijn. Poured a clear golden brown with a thin tan head. The aroma was weak, but there were some yeast and malt notes. The flavour is bitter and yeast with some hints of malt and caramel on the palate and a touch of bitterness from the alcohol in the aftertaste. A very drinkable beer in fact that did grow on me as it got a little warmer.

Clear copper color with off-white foam head, lacing to glass. Aroma is rather sweet caramel with some alcohol and yeast. Taste is bittersweet with caramel most present. Short sweet aftertaste, not bad actually. (Velp 201212)

Bottle: Clear, reddish-amber coloured, small and stable off-white head, sweet fruity and toasty-caramelly nose, already is a vinois touch detectable; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, relatively light bodied; caramelly-bitter finish. Nice, undemanding brew…
