Bottled in Utrecht. Clear amber with a tan head that gone quickly, Aroma is sweet caramel, malt and hints of alcohol. Flavor is pretty much the same with some spice notes. Mouth feel is a balanced sweetness and bitterness.

Reddish brown pour with a small head. It is sweet and yeasty. Nothing special.

Not a strong showing for Brand, but in keeping with expectations. For the price, a decent beer. Reddish brown appearance, average head, with the flavor of bread and a bit of fruit.

Bottle, thanks to Bierkoning. Red-brown with a small head that is quickly gone. Aroma is mainly caramelly, bready malty and hoppy, the spiciness and fruitiness (apples and redcurrant) seem to be relegated into the background. Light to light-moderate body, quite sweet, caramelly, malty taste with some little fruit and spices, finished by a moderate hop bitterness. The alcohol is well hidden, besides its warming effect. Easy drink and quaffable on one hand, not too complex on the other, without any sharp edges. Sort of like a Belgian strong ale for the masses.

Rose red collor, semi-transparant. Not a particular smell with light sweetness. Strong bitter sweetness with mild acid after-taste.

First off: Expected more, really enjoyed Brand’s duppelbock.
Aroma: Very yeasty!
Appearance: Beer looks amber, slightly sparkling, beautiful head, cool!
Taste: The yeast takes over but there’s no bitterness very profound nor sweetness. No sourness. Just watery yeast.
Palate: Decent, nothing special.
Overall: Very dissapointing, it doesnt has the dryness of other Belgian Strong ales, nor does it has any intense aromas. There’s nothing that makes this beer special except for the waterness that normal pilsners have. ALl in all, a watered down version of a Belgian Strong ale.
The duppelbock of brand is really good, shame this one is.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Mahony red with small off white head. Clearly clean and filtered, which also shines through in the clean, sugary and boring aroma. Little bready and soaked raisins. Yeasty and sugary taste, but not much else. Almost as if a minimal of ingredients was used. Sugar water and still too alcoholic. Cheap but really not good enough.

Fijn kruidig aroma met vanille. Kraag verliest snel zijn vorm; wellicht te koud ingeschonken. Smaak is tevens kruidig en peperig met zoete tonen, met een fijne bitter in de nasmaak.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2012 30 cl. bottle. Winter 2011-2012. Pours a dark amber with a thin off-white head. Roasted malts dominate along with some caramel. Was expecting some more body judging the rich colour and alcohol percentage. Decent enough winterbrew

Helder rood/amberkleurig bier met goeie witte kraag. Vrij stevig van smaak, je proeft de alcohol. Verder fruit (appel, kers), kruiden. Smakelijk, maar er zijn lekkerder winterbieren.
