Bottle. Light golden, small and fully diminishing head. Light to moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some grassy hoppyness. Body is light to medium, malty and sweetish flavor, some butter and light grassy hoppyness. Finish is short to average, malty and lightly sweetish, some butter and grassy hoppyness. Lightly sweetish pils – could use more hoppyness to balance the diacetyl.

Easily the best - and probably the only actually decent - macro pilsener in the Netherlands. Fresh grassy, lemon nose. Actual hop flavour in the body, and a nice crisp and hopbitter aftertaste.

Countbeer (5242) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - AUG 6, 2011
Bottle: White head on top of a golden colored beer. Smell hops, malts, herbs, grains and hay Taste is a nice bitter spicy crisp mix of hops, malts, herbs, hint of flowers. Nice bitter aftertaste. Personally think this is better than most regular pilseners!

Think I tasted this at KBC Den Bosch 2011. Nothing much to tell actually, just another pilsener as there are so many.

DutchDrebus (4663) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - JUN 22, 2011
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2012 Not too special. It’s a bit like a regular lager/pilsner, only a bit stronger in taste and smell. Easy to drink.

Koelschtrinker (12439) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 21, 2011
Fruchtiger Geruch mit süßlich-hopfiger Note. Malziger, sehr bitterer Antrunk. Test vom 24.3.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,9,8,11,8,10 - 9,50

Draught. Not a bad beer, but is like a normal lager. Taste a bit foul. Very pale. Thin palate. Not my favorite.

When draughted it gives a strong aroma, bit like a witbier. Lemon and fresh herbs. The taste is bitter and strong. This is a beer to get used to. Second one will taste better I guess."

Good bitter pilsner with lots of hops. Very pleasant mouthfeel, taste of mout, hop and aftertaste nicely bitter.

On tap at Oosterling, Amsterdam on 7 April 2011. This is way netter than the "standard" Brand pilsner. There’s a touch of grassy hop here with a touch of bitterness (although probably less than in the old days). The malts are sweetish and a little bready. But it does have more weight on the palate and depth of flavour than the norm for a Dutch "pilsner" from the large brewers. Probably somewhat diminished from what t used to be but still a pleasantly drinkable and quite satisfying lager. Wish I’d had the opportunity to taste this before the Heineken takeover.
