On tap at HOTD. Colour...medium amber with a thin white head. Nose...eminently fruity with dates and golden raisins leading the charge and working very well with the oak. Palate...full and opulent with gobs of dried dark fruits, Christmas cake and treacle. The booze is quite obvious and vanillin and oaky tannins are present. The finish is long and somewhat tangy.

On draught at Hair of the Dog Brewing. Deep golden color, slightly hazy. Aroma is brandy, sticky toffee, oak, and berry. Taste is brandy, candi sugar, spice, oak, and some big honey notes. Definitely boozy, but the brandy works well with the sweet Fred.

Muddy dull tan, lots of brandy on the nose, sweet, lots of brandy, fruity interplay with the sweet barley wine. A good treatment.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a light cloudy orange color a bit of brown shades, a medium white head. A huge vinous nose, brandy and sugary malt bases. The flavor is dominated by sweet hot vinous brandy notes, something like almonds, sweet malty backbone. The beer is overall very drinkable and awesome!

Beautiful copper color with 1 finger of white head. Sweet aroma. I love barley wines and this one is pretty up there. Good initial brandy taste that is then taken over by the sweetness of the wine. The taste lingers around on the pallette which I enjoy. If Fred is 10% this is probably more, and I can barely taste the alcohol over the flavor.

Poured from the tap. Murky orangey brown with beige head. Lots of caramel and brandy. Excellent balance.

On tap at the brewery. Clear copper pour with a white head. Intoxicating brandy bouquet. Absolutely fantastic. Big luscious brandy, rich caramel, and brown sugar highlights. Sweet and so velvety smooth. The brandy really compliments Fred. Mild oak and maple syrup undercurrents. Stellar mouthfeel with a good body.
