3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 11, 2013 Bottle: thanks, Kevin! Very dark, black pour with a super dark tan film that is completely gone in seconds. Aroma is deep roast, dark cocoa beans, mild coffee grounds, maybe only a touch of dark fruit. Taste is full of roasted malt, light ashiness with some timid coffee and dark, unsweet cocoa notes. Very mild finishing licorice and prune touch, but the roast and coffee notes linger. Mild astringency grows with warmth. Medium, sharp body.

Dark brown with brown hue, very little light brown head. Malty chocolate scent. Thin watery mouthfeel, low carbonation, smooth finish. Smokey chicory bitter and dark fruit taste. Flavor good but a bit watery and astringent.

Whew! This is a big delicious beer! It pours jet black with a dark brown head. Aroma is coffee, Mocha, dark Chocolate. Mouth feel is sticky and velvety. Taste is awesome, roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Clocking in a 10%ABV this beer is definitely a sipper, but a sipper that you cannot put down!

Bottle. Pours an inky black body with a small thin fizzy dark brown head that faded to a few small bubbles. The nose is really chocolaty and decadent with some rich roasted malt, sweetness, and some moderate alcohol notes. The flavor is a little too sweet for my tastes, the burnt caramel and chocolate notes come on a little too heavy and strong. Add in the effect of the heat from the 10% ABV and you don’t exactly get a very easy drinking beer. Finishes with a bit of burnt roasted malt, coffee, and alcohol. Medium bodied, a bit sticky and clingy, especially on the finish. It’s a decent beer, but not something that I’m going to treasure drinking a full bomber’s worth.

Draft at craft ale house. Pours pitch black with a medium sized brown head. This looks like a float. Gorgeous. The aroma is Starbucks style. Big mocha notes, light roast, a lot of lactose. The taste has a big roasty kick up front, a huge coffee bean run, sweet finish. Great sticky palate. Awesome.
