650.6 ml. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, mocha head, with slight lacing, over a black brown (SRM 35) body.....nose is chocolate, coffee, cocoa, hints of beef, soy.....taste is heavy chocolate, cocoa, lighter coffee, hints of beef, sweet throughout, finishing with a light bitterness.....mouth feel thick, creamy, sticky, minimal astringency, alcohol hidden, carbonation low. This is dominated in both aroma and flavor by the very heavily sweet chocolate effects. As such it is terribly unbalanced. It has almost none of the balancing fruit and/or umami complexity found in the best. It needs more from the hop backbone as well as greater attenuation. BJCP 7/3/10/4/6

Strong coffee, chocolate, coco smell, sweet/nut bean aroma, motor oil black thick just less than milk feel, good lacing, coffee, milk chocolate, you can taste the milk, coffee bean, peppery finish, some other spices that linger after the swallow. Hint of sweetness, just wish there was a little more. Another good stout could get better with age. Not sure if anyone else will agree but it does have a bit of a medicinal taste almost like asprin that lingers?

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours black with a small tan head. Nose shows very sweet, fake chocolate and vanilla. A little one dimensional. 10% is well hidden. Loads of milk chocolate and sweet vanilla essence, touch of lactose. Solid but no wow factor

Draft at Jerry’s. Black with creamy, brown, head, light legs / Light, dull nose of roast barley, cream, roast coffee / Medium body, chewy, some acidity, sweet but decent hop balance, and lightly bitter finish / Cooked, somewhat medicinal flavors of stale coffee, roast barley, cream, semisweet chocolate / Very stale and cooked of flavor.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Bitter dark chocolate sauce aromas. Dry and sweet with milk chocolate upfront turning to mild espresso in the hot finish.

22 oz bomber with a badass label pours a pitch black with a creamy, dark tan head that sticks around the rim. Chocolate on the nose, with some very apparent Acetaldehyde and DMS. Velvety mouthfeel and milk chocolate cannot hide the flaws. Chocolate and booze in the finish. The more it warms up, the more squashy aroma and flavor come through. Bummer.

Davros (1897) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 14, 2013
Pours black as the night with a quickly fading dark tan head. Nose shows roasted malt, cocoa, dark chocolate, alcohol and earthy coffee notes. Tempting! Very decadent flavours. A fair bit of chocolate is noticeable alongside bready roasted malt. Quite and aggressive finish of roasty bitterness and alcohol. Needs a creamier mouthfeel.

Bottle. Black pour, with a tan head. Lots of milk chocolate, more chocolate, roast, cream, and a bit of dark fruit. Heavy creamy mouthfeel. Quite sweet.
