COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The quality of the cold brewed coffee that goes into Texas Exile is important to us. That’s why we hooked up with MA coffee roaster Barismo. These guys are as serious about coffee as we are about beer. About 33 gallons of cold brewed coffee goes into each batch of Texas Exile right before fermentation, adding the perfect compliment to the brown sugar and oatmeal flavors of this huge imperial porter. Breakfast just got a punch in the neck.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2012 Comes out of the bottle a deep sable barely a flea’s eyebrow above black with a thick and rather persistent tan head. Smoky aroma has firm coffee and, interestingly, hoppy notes. Flavor has tones of hops, coffee and chocolate plus some woody hoppy hints. Smooth texture has good body and fizz, and some sass. Wherever you have it, a good one!

Big smoky spicy beer. Dark dark pour. Huge coffee and roasted malts in nose. Aroma adds a touch of spice, but still a lot of roasted heavy malts. Full bodied. Light carbonation. Pretty good stuff.

Brash texas exile "ale brewed with coffee." Mercury brewing. Light brown head over a near black body. Lacing coats the glass. Pleasantly boozy aftertaste. Coffee and caramel dominate the aroma which also has a hint of toffee. Coffee and dark roasted malts dominate the flavor, with good balance ~ meaning the roasted grains dominate the coffee. The coffee is obvious but not overdone in the lingering aftertaste either. Rich but a bit lacking in complexity. O: very good. 10.5% ABV is very well hidden.

Bottle: Black with a dark tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, a pinch of licorice. Taste is malty...bitter chocolate and coffee. Roasty, slightly smoky. Really, really good.

A deep dark black body with a brown coating of a head. Some lacing. Aroma had a strong roasted malt profile initially. A presence of leather, coffee and alcohol were also strong points. Flavor had a great balance of roasted malts and bittersweet chocolate. Coffee was a strong presence in the aftertaste. Alcohol seemed to enhance this. Finish was dry. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark brown with a tiny tan head and a coffee and treacle aroma. There is an intense chocolate and coffee flavor with a dry finish. Delicious.
