COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American brewpub classic. Firm, clean hop bitterness asserts itself supported by a mild malt flavor. We used 100% US grown hops in this beer.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2007 Rerate. This beer is pretty good. Nice floral aroma and wicked bitterness. I’d guess somewhere around 50+ IBUs. FInish is piercingly bitter. However, I wished they used more "american" citrusy hops. Pretty good and looks great. 5.5% abv

Draught at Brewpub: Aroma of caramel and hops. Poured light amber with a hint of gold in color. Very lightly hazy. Not sparkling. Flavor is lightly bitter. Tastes of caramel, malts, and spicy hops. Light to medium body. Chalky texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. Surprisingly decent.

Pour is clearish orangey amber with a thin white head...smell is grapefruity, but not overwhelmingly so...taste is strongly soapy and bitter with a strong citric finish...seems a little off somehow and I don’t know how to explain....

This draft brew from the brew pub poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a transparent typically carbonated orange colored body. The mild aroma was hoppy. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish hoppy aftertaste. The mild flavor contained notes of hops and mild caramel. It needed more of the caramel flavor, but it was had the most character of any of their brews. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again.

(02.18.06) Sampled at FebFest ’06, Libertyville, IL. Clear copper hued ale having a small white head with good lacing. Soft carbonation. Hoppy, sweet malt aroma. Light-to-medium bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and notable hop flavoring. Finishes dry with light hop bitterness. A very good refreshing pale ale that goes well with food. Brewmaster Anthony Carollo gave me a growler of this pale ale to enjoy at home. Thanks Anthony!

Best of the Brass brews...with a nice caramel malt sweetness. Fine balance with grapefruit hopping bitterness. Very well done.

Clear bronze in color with a thin grey head. Best aroma of this brewery’s beers yet, consisting of sugared lemon grass, honeydew, lilacs and lilies - overall, it’s very sweet. Delivers flavor in a modified pale ale reductionary sense. Hops tingle and exceed malt-balancing levels, winding down to a scraping and bitter finish highlighted with some whole wheat dinner rolls. Odd sugary sweetening seems to have replaced - and now patronizes - traditional methods of malt support. But what the hell, it’s an APA.

Orange/caramel colored with a small, tight, off-white head that stayed on as a small film. Moderate grapefruity aroma. Good bitterness throughout with some caramel appearing late in the finish.

This one was part of a sampler that we had one evening at Brass. Copper colored, with a decent although short lived head. A little more biscuity than I anticipated, and a grainy hop taste. I could drink it in session, but not my favorite APA.
