Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 5, 2005 Served with a wedge, which I immediately hurled away before I sampled it... although in retrospect, maybe I shoud’ve squeezed the lemon into the ale and stirred it up. The beer smelled like artificial banana flavoring was mixed in as an afterthought. The prevailing taste was banana flavored Turkish Taffy. I liked that candy as a kid, but I don’t now... and certainly not in a beer.

thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 2, 2007 This draft brew from the brew pub poured a head of finely sized clear colored bubbles that were fully diminished and left behind a slightly hazy softly carbonated light orange brown colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was malty and banana. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt hops banana and crisp. Overall, it was slightly off style weak and thin. Not one that I would buy again. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Oct 30, 2009 Draft at Brass Restaurant & Brewery. White small head with a short retention, cloudy straw body and no lacing or carbonation observed. The aroma is banana, clove, spices, and some vanilla. The flavor mimicked the aroma along with a refreshing taste. Smooth mouthfeel and this is a light-medium bodied beer. Easy to drink but not one of the better German Hefes that I have had as it lacks character. michael-pollack (2606), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 12, 2008 Draught at Brewpub: Aroma of light spices. Poured golden/amber in color with a small, white head. Tastes of banana, bubblegum, and spices. Light to medium body. Average texture. Light to average carbonation. Spice finish. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 31, 2008 Pour is lightly hazed golden with a thin white head...smell is attractively banana and clove, not like being hit over the head...tast is stronger with banana, cloves, and yeast...hints of coriander too..very lively carbonation...perhaps overly so... StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Aug 29, 2005 Moderately hazy and paling yellow in color with a thin sheet of white for the head. Aroma is well executed, with the predictable assembly of bananas, vanilla, cloves and lemon juice. Thin palate overlay, spinning the flavor into a sugary dried banana chip. Flavor is decent, highlighted with the usual suspects (cloves, pepper, and - regretfully - the acidic lemon touch that most brewpubs can never seem to shake.) Fair effort. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Jan 29, 2006 Served a well-hazed copper with a white head. Starts nice with milky yeast aromas of banana and clove, but the flavor turns medicinal with a thin mouthfeel. There was a Hefeweizen presence, but it wasn’t enough to save this beer. (It was also odd to see this summer-seasonal on tap in January, but their entire beer menu was higgeldy-piggeldy.)

RAYBOY01 (1813), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 4, 2005 Weird artificial banana ester aroma...very off-putting. Nothing remotely like any hefe I’ve ever had before...and that can’t be good, yeah?
