Pours a lovely dark brown color, almost black, topped with a decent beige colored head. Very mild roasted malts aroma, some chocolate and caramel too, but very mild. Later on, some coffee notes. The taste starts sweet, with pleasant notes of chocolate, some coffee (midl) and roasty feel. Some sweet and fruity notes in the aftertaste. Altogether, a very mild but delicious stout. Really surprised by this one.

Powerful gusher…..lost some good beer. Complete black color with a hughe beige head. Nice lacing. Ok body and a fine balance. A bit to rich carbonation. Both flavor and aroma contains coffee, mild chocolate and some roasted notes. A bit dry ending. Pleasant and nice stout!
[Bottle from a trade with CH-303]

BOTTLE 33 CL from CH-303. A gusher, although a small one. Look: almost opaque black with brown hues, mocha frothy head. Aroma: Some sourish notes at the very beginning that go away fast. Light coffee/chocolate, nutty/oily notes. Taste: light roast, some bitter chocolate and quite a strong hop bitterness, creamy body, soapy notes. A decent and bitter stout.

Many thanks to CH-303 for this bottle! Very strong gushing.... doesn’t seem to be a reliable brewery.... The beer itself starts malty-warming, nice roasted hints. The mainpart is sweetish-roasted, hints of sourness. Not a bad combination... The aftertaste is long, roasted-malty, quite sweetish and not too bitter. Wouldn’t it be such a gusher, it could really be recommendable...

A terrific Swiss stout. Pouring pitch black with a candylike head. Smells burnt toast and chocolate. Milky texture, soft, velvetlike, tastes of coffee, milky chocolate and laid down plums? Good ashy finish. Gorgeous beer!

Bottle from Au Grain D’Orge / Black color, small tan head / Aroma of roasted malt, licorice, yeasty, hints of coffee and earthy hops / Roasted malt licorice and earthy hops flavor / light-medium body, dry, fizzy carbonation, dry roasted malt finish / A little bit overcaronated and too yeasty. Simple but good

Bottle from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier; 5% ABV, bb 2013-04
Black color, with creamy brown head. Aroma of coffee and yeast. Dry and weak mouthfeel, some roasted malts, chocolate, yeast and light liquorice. Because of the yeast the final is also a bit astringent.
Mediocre.

rand (1297) - SWITZERLAND - DEC 16, 2011
