341ml bottle poured into a pint glass around 10 degrees. Pours a deep mohagany with maple highlights. Carbonation is not so active and the light hazel head stands at about two finger. Retention is moderate and I got almost no lacing. The nose is very aromatic, dominated by caramel, toasted sesame, toffee. The Target hops come through heavy with a grassy freshness. On the tongue, the brew gives roasted malts, burnt toasts, toffee and earthy hops. Quite well balanced, the choice to use Target hops was, to me, an excellent way to make this beer more robust and fresh. It feels pretty dense and takes ages to finish since the hops will tickle your palate for a while. Food pairing for this ale would be grilled pork, ribs, stews and heavy desserts.

Dark brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, nuts, roast, vanilla, and toast.

A little trashy. Pours brown with ok head and not much lace. Taste kind of bad, like mixed malt with some attempted roast that didn’t turn out right. Taste is basically sour but light and impotent overall. Bottle slanged walking down the street between bars.

Gainsbourg version. Pours brown with a light head and good lacing. Notes of caramel, dark fruit. Tastes are light sweet with a little bitter. Very drinkable.

Pours a dark copper colour with a thick frothy beige head. Retention is great and lacing covers the glass. Starts off with a fresh coffee scent and added is butterscotch and some light fruits (dates, plums, apples). Slick mouthfeel with a medium-light body. Taste of roasted malts, giving the coffee notes, with mild caramel and hints of hops in the short finish. Not sure what style this beer "really" is, but I kind of like it.

A nice amber ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, nice caramel malt with light grassy hops, Nutella, nice. In mouth, a nice nutty malt with grassy British hops, sweet nut spread. On tap at Hivern’ale, Jan 25 2012.

Bottle 341ml. Pours deep red/burgundy with low beige head. Aroma is of caramel, butterscotch, malt. Taste is of roasted malt (acid), caramel. Unpleasant acid aftertaste. Palate: Somewhat thin for a scotch ale. Overall: Boderline. On the plus side, it is more drinkable tahn the usual Scotch Ale. Less than average balance. Not very good.
