Gainsbourg version. Pours brown with a light head and good lacing. Notes of caramel, dark fruit. Tastes are light sweet with a little bitter. Very drinkable.

Pours a dark copper colour with a thick frothy beige head. Retention is great and lacing covers the glass. Starts off with a fresh coffee scent and added is butterscotch and some light fruits (dates, plums, apples). Slick mouthfeel with a medium-light body. Taste of roasted malts, giving the coffee notes, with mild caramel and hints of hops in the short finish. Not sure what style this beer "really" is, but I kind of like it.

Bottle 341ml. Pours deep red/burgundy with low beige head. Aroma is of caramel, butterscotch, malt. Taste is of roasted malt (acid), caramel. Unpleasant acid aftertaste. Palate: Somewhat thin for a scotch ale. Overall: Boderline. On the plus side, it is more drinkable tahn the usual Scotch Ale. Less than average balance. Not very good.

On tap at the brewpub. Licorice in the aroma, brown coloured body with a lace sheet down the glass. Off- flavours. Sourish and tart edges instead of any smoke or peat. Limited drinkability.

Bottle 341 ml. Pours a nice dark red with copper reflect. Medium beige head. Aroma is mostly roasted malt, with subtle caramel. Taste is sweet (caramel and a touch of chocolate (?)) with a touch of roasted bread. Medium bodied, dry bitter finish. Seem a little out of the style. Bouteille 341 ml. Robe rouge foncé, reflets cuivrés. Collet beige moyen.
