341 ml bottle. Pours a brownish-reddish black with a resilient beige head. Smell is weakly roast. Taste is very herbal - leafs, chlorophyll, and smoke roast and chocolate. Finish is quite a bit roasty, quite a bit of black chocolate bitterness. A hint of liquor in there (maybe the absinth?). Also some leafs and herbal bitterness. Light to medium body. Very good, unique, unexpected stout! I was pleasantly surprised!

Aroma- mint, slight roasted notes, huge medicinal qualities, oak, barrel qualities Appearance- mostly black with a very thin white head Taste- medicinal upfront with some sharp minty sweetness, slight roasted hits in the middle with a touch of chocolate, more medicinal on backend with a clever touch of sweetness to end things Palate- on the thinner side with an overcarbonated mouthfeel Overall- Somewhat impressed I think. A good friend of mine brought this back with him from Montreal and knew to hook me up. It’s not something that I could or would drink everyday but it was pretty cool to try.

worldbeertaste (1608) - AUSTRIA - AUG 22, 2012
Dark black with no tint and a quick dissapearing brown head. Smells of a nice roast with an herbal absinth element, nice malt character with licorish. Medium to thick body. Taste of malt, and clear herbal absenth element, nice stout roasty and liqourice. With a dry bitter finish. I dont really like it. Its strange. But its still a interesting stout.

This is a good, strange, one-note beer with a very prominent herbal/liquorice character. You’ll either love it or hate it. I happen to love it.

341ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is overwhelmingly anise and black licorice with some roasted malt. Would not really consider this to be a "stout" as the bottle suggested... It’s pretty much a stout base with loads of anise and licorice added in. If you’re a fan of those flavours you’ll like this beer. It’s unique and has a distinct unforgettable flavour. Enjoyable--but not for every day consumption.

A gimmicky stout, yet a good one! Pours black with a small retained head. Absinth clearly in smell, we know it, we get it and it works. A nice diversion, though the stout behind it is basic. Worth seeking out.

This stout poured a deep, dark black colour with a creamy, dark tan coloured head. Light lacing. To the nose there are scents of smoke, licorice, chocolate, cooked veggies and cream. First sip was very smooth with a almost oily mouthfeel. Carbonation was low and the flavours of burnt chocolate and smoke were most prodominant. Other flavours of licorice and i’m guessing Absinth come up later. Finish is smoky and burnt with a light licorice flavour lingering.
