2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 DeanF (1484) - Iqaluit, - DEC 12, 2010
Aroma of malt with just a hint of hops. Clear amber body, decent head. Taste is a malty fruitiness with some saison-like elements creating a slightly vegetable finish. Mouthfeel is a little watery. Slightly intriguing, but flawed.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 AlainG (242) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 4, 2012
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 glennmastrange (1636) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JAN 19, 2012
Bottle. Moderate malt aroma of cereal, light to moderate cooked orange for the hops and barnyard for the yeast, with a hint of honey and faint spice in the background. Head is small, fizzy, slightly off-white with some spotty lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is sparkling clear medium amber. Flavor starts slightly sweet, heavily acidic and sour, then the short finish is just acidic. Palate is light to medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation. It has nice balanced aromas, and somewhat harsh and out of balance flavors, but it’s still a good drinking Belgian Ale.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Johnsense (281) - - DEC 2, 2011
BDM’s best beer. Don’t approach it as a pure belgian - rather an American Amber/Belgian hybrid. Orange/Red pour with 2 fingers of frothy white head. big gobs of lacing. Spice in the aroma, earth, yeast, caramel, mixed nuts. Taste is a combination of spice, yeast, a bit of vanilla, dark fruits, a bit of nuttiness, earth and wood - very complex. Medium bodied and creamy. To this day I’m not sure what BDM was going for but this beer is delicious, especially on tap.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is toasted caramelish and light fruity. Phenolic, caramelish and light toasted malty. Subdued fruity and bitter to herbal. Bitter and herbal dry finish.

341ml bottle. Clear amber pour with a finger of head that vacates quickly and leaves almost no lace. Bread and fruit on the nose with a hint of caramel on the nose. A little booze on the palate with a lot of caramel and some bread and fruit. Finishes bittersweet. Not bad, but fairly uninteresting.

Bottle. Medium tea-amber, brief white head that recedes to a ring. Aroma is nicely malty, light toast and porty fruits. Flavours are more fruit-forward, golden raisins cooked apples, with light toasty caramel. Quite tasty, I’d be happy to have a few of these in a Montreal pub.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 BLAP (73) - Quebec, CANADA - JUN 17, 2011
Deep blond hazy ale with minimal collar. Subtile candy aroma. Simple but well balanced.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 UM02 (207) - Quebec, CANADA - APR 7, 2011
Similar to the other beer I have tried from this brewery, Montréalaise. Nothing exceptional but still a decent drinkable beer of some quality. Not sure if I would buy it again given that there are some better alternatives but nevertheless still enjoying it.
