COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

330 ml bottle as part of the brewery’s limited edition assorted 8-pack bought at Tecstar’s booth at HKCEC in Wan Chai during The 12th Hong Kong Food Festival.

Cloudy hazy dirty straw amber colour with lots of yeast sediments; Half finger head and soay white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Moderate sticky lacing and barely notable carbonation; Sweet aroma of malt, with strong caramel, vanilla, banana, cream cake, sugar, Bel yeast, light spices, strong white bread and very light lemon; Strong sweet taste of malt, with strong caramel, light toffee, light dark fruits, sugar, alcohol, strong spices, Bel yeast, dry biscuits, lime, and moderate bitter hops and grass; Mid to light body. Slick and boozy palate; Mouth feel is fairly good maltyness in a pretty thick body. Very sweet but without the oh-so important carbo and creaminess to back it up. Strong caramel and toffee, not much fruity ester but booze taste is glaring. Spicy and very biscuit with moderate hops, but without the carbo, this is really missing something… Hoppiness is light lemon in nose, pretty strong lime and moderate grassy hops in taste; Bitterness is moderate to high for an abrupt, sweet-bitter finish; Quite dry after taste. Thick and strong sweet to mouth.

Comments: I am starting to doubt if the brewery 8-pack I bought can’t stand the long-distance travelling, this is the third one from the box that has disappointingly low carbo, coupled with that dirty looks, just dampen my appetite. The taste and feel suggest a tailor-made spicy Belgian Strong Blonde, but without the heads and bubbles, all goes to nothing, and I wouldn’t mind to hit my 900th ratings with an lowly one once in a while!

Aroma of malt, sweet fruits, some caramel, spicy yeast. Flavour is sweet with a light bitter finish. Overall I found this one a bit too sweet.

33cl Bottle shared at The Winterbier Festival in Hoogeveen. Appearance: Hazy opaque amber body with a small offwhite head. Aroma: Dried fruit ,grass and honey with spicey peppery yeast. Taste: malts, some fruite with spicey yeast and honey notes. Some peach tones and alcohol can be found in addition in the finish and aftertaste Moderate sweet, low bitterness. Alto a decent spicyness to compensate the sweetness. Dry texturs, full body, below average carbonated. A bit of standard Belgian Ale, Belgian has a lot like this. Nothing wrong but not unique as well. Decent.

Short on appearance, long on taste. Nice color of orange/copper with just an oil skin of head. Aroma of dried fruits and malt. Taste come through with elements of citrus and hops. This is nice winter warmer.

One of the best beers I ever had in my life. Especially when the weather is getting colder and colder. Everybody should enjoy this kind of traditional beer. I like to drink this beer between 10 and 12°C and I advise you to do so. Unfiltered and non-pasteurized, this triple-fermented beer is well balanced and has lovely hints of caramel which warms your heart.

Medium offwhite head. Hazy opaque amber body. Dried fruit and honey aroma with spicy papery notes. Dry-sweet raisiny malts taste with spicy honey notes. Fullish body. Faintly hot, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish honey and dried fruit aftertaste with grassy herbal peach notes. Nice, complex, full of character. Lovely! (0.33l bottle, from CitySuper IFC, Hong Kong.)

Foggy orange body and a nice big white head. Aroma is rotting shellfish funk, mouldy leather. Taste is an odd smooth mix of malts and vegetable extracts, creating something resembling a potato flavour. Dry finish. Odd and unique.
