Bottle. Light pumpernickel aroma with some faint earthy hops and moderate citrusy fermentation esters. Slightly hazy ruddy copper under a lasting off white flannel blanket. Very sweet, sugary flavour with some nutty sherry-like accents and medium bitterness. Full body, moderate, cloying.

2014-10-25. Lightly cloudy dark amber brown body with a small frothy tan had. 3+ Aroma is fairly malty, pleasantly so, with a good amount of carmael and toffee notes, light molassess and moderate alcohol presence. 7++ Flavour is similarly malt forward, toffee/caramel sweetness but with finishes with enough bitterness to keep it fairly balanced. Moderate alcohol throughout. Relatively simple but a very solid take on the style. Enjoyable. Medium bodied palate with soft carbonation. On cask at Cask Days, Toronto.

At Cask Days 2014. Dried fruits, maple syrup, pancake, warming alcohol, hints of spice, dry finish. Fine barley wine but maybe a bit too boozy

Ale de hardy at the brewery which is currently Canada’s best barleywine and rings in at 10.5% Crystal clear dark amber with a big fruity malty caramel nose. Wow, wonderful sweet sugary malts, candied plums, figs, cinnamon and spice. Simply delicious malty goodness. I just wish I was sipping this on a cold winter day.

Rousse rougeâtre. Peu de collet. Nez: fer. Caramel. Fruits séchés. Florale. Banane. Bouche: bien sucré. Ronde et riche. Chaleur d’alcool.
