COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pub owners near the London port and train stations were known many years back to serve local porters a cheap mix made of two or three brews that they could not sell. Local brewers then created a beer named Entire that included the main profile of the mix: brown, malty, slightly sweet, with a touch of burnt caramel flavor and not too strong in alcohol. It was the ideal inexpensive beverage to replenish one’s energy without taking the time to have a full meal. It became the Porter’s Beer. In remembrance of this era we created our Big Ben Porter, moderately dry, with flavors of slightly burnt caramel malts. The English hops are bringing a light bitterness to balance it all.

500 ml bottle. Pours an opaque, orangeish black with a resilient, beige-orange head. Smells slightly roasted. Tastes like milk chocolate, caramel, and roasted hazelnuts.Bit of bitterness in the finish. Body is medium, mouthfeel is unctuous, creamy. Top notch porter, if you ask me.

A nice porter with a pleasant mellow roasty character underneath a semi sweet chocolate aroma. Smooth and nicely bittered to style with cocoa and touches of English toffee. Dark brown with shades of red under a nice light brown sugar toned head. Very drinkable worth seeking.

Deep brown-black pour. The aroma is a little bit light. Some toasted malt and a bit of light molasses. Medium-bodied and a bit hoppy. Softly spicy and a little bit noble. A touch of pepper and some lingering hoppiness. Pretty nice actually. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drank on tap (6 oz) at Saint-Graal (Ste. Therese, Quebec) on October 20, 2012. Very dark brown, small head. Roasted barley aroma, a little sweet and very light. Barley taste very raw, very bitter notes of chocolate, coffee bean, aftertaste of creamy cereal. Very faithful to its style!

UPDATED: APR 5, 2012 Bouteille 500 ml. 5.5%.

500ml bottle. Deep mahogany-brown body, medium mocha head with good retention. Aroma of lightly roasted malts, caramel, a touch of wood, chocolate, maple syrup. Tastes of caramel upfront, then roasted malt, light herbal hops. Dry and light. Intense carbonation.
