Pub owners near the London port and train stations were known many years back to serve local porters a cheap mix made of two or three brews that they could not sell. Local brewers then created a beer named Entire that included the main profile of the mix: brown, malty, slightly sweet, with a touch of burnt caramel flavor and not too strong in alcohol. It was the ideal inexpensive beverage to replenish one’s energy without taking the time to have a full meal. It became the Porter’s Beer. In remembrance of this era we created our Big Ben Porter, moderately dry, with flavors of slightly burnt caramel malts. The English hops are bringing a light bitterness to balance it all.

Picked up a 500ml bottle from Broue Haha just because. Mahogany brown with a biege head that fades. Nice roasted malt, light coffee, hint of sweetness and chocolate. Mild carbonation, moderate to mild body, somewhat sweet, bit of a strange vegetable tinge, some chocolate and malt on the finish, Decent.

Very dark reddish brown pour with a small dark brown head that fades quickly.Nose of roasted malt, brown sugar, cocoa and coffee. Medium sweet toffee followed by a medium light bitter dark chocolate and a quite dry finish though there are some metallic notes. Mouth is medium creamy with soft carbonation.

Big Ben on tap at the brewpub. It has a nice cocoa and light molasses aroma. Malty dark goodness, sweet. A solid London Porter.

Good roast, subtle cocoa, and coffee notes. Mouth feel is thinner than i expected, carb is quite low. Finish is lowon the bitterness, with more solid roast. Hops are there, but quite earthy, and there is a metallic flavor in the end that i cant shake. Good, not great.

Şişe @ istanbul. Bardakta simsiyah bir renk kalıcı olmayan kahverengi köpük. Orta gövdeli. Kokuda karamel baskın, ardından kavrulmuş malt ve tatlılık hakim. Tadım dolgun, gazlı, yine karamel kavrulmuş ve arpa tatları ön planda.. Kalıcılık çok uzun değil. Başarılı ancak harika değil..

Pours very dark brown with cherry red hi-lights. Off-white head. Very little lacing On the nose, dark bitter chocolate and burnt coffee. The palate is surprisingly light, liquidy, and less creamy than anticipated. Sweeter than some Porters I have had, but not overpoweringly so. A hard one to categorize and a bit of a mish-mash of styles, but I guess that is what they were going for after reading the label. A quality brew definitely worth trying.
