Boum!

Hops. Hops. Even more hops. Alright... we got it... and we deliver. Here is La Houblonière. It is essentially an intense hop infusion... disguised as a blond ale. We kept the malt flavors as well as the alcohol content under control so you could experience an explosion of hops in your mouth. Boom!

A well done APA. Lively carbonation from the start (while pouring the beer) to the finish. Very Hoppy (mostly citrus and spruce). Did I say very hoppy? Very nice looking beer, golden/orange honey color, very cloudy, with a nice thick but medium lasting white/yellow head. Medium sweet taste with a hanging bitter, but like the head, not over lasting. A nice creamy ale with lively carbonation with a bitter finish. I’ve enjoyed it.

Pours a really hazy golden with a small white head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of melon, pine and generally hoppy. Taste is moderately bitter with orange, pine and melon flavors. Not too sweet. Body is light-ish and carbonation moderately high. A bit thin but not problematically so. A pretty good hop juice.

Appearance: slightly hazy medium gold with one finger of loose white head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: pithy citrus, pine, floral, pale malt. (8/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderately strong bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium body tending slightly to the watery, moderate carbonation, off-dry lingering bitter finish. (4/5) Not bad at all! More like an A/IPA than an APA, perhaps, but as I’ve observed on more than one occasion, the finer points of the distinction between those two styles continues to elude me. Sufficed to say this thing has lots of fragrant hop aroma, backed up by a decent but not overwhelming bitterness on the tongue, and in particular on the finish. A bit simplistic, perhaps, but ultimately it’s clean and pleasant. (16/20)

Hazy golden orange. Citrusy hops. Taste is sharp citrus on a very sweet malt beer. IT’s pretty one dimensional here, but it’s pretty nice.

Great bitter mixed with a balanced floral and grain taste. The appearance is cloudy, like most of IPA.

Pours a hazy golden topped by a huge frothy head showing great retention and leaving big chunky lacing. The nose is fresh with big floral hops and some light caramel. The taste is bold and hoppy with dense floral notes, with again, some light caramel coming through at the end. The brew hold decent carbonation and feels full on the palate. It finishes low and slow with the hops lingering though a mellow bitterness. Pretty nice product. Cheers!

Goût de houblons, orange et cantaloup. Gros punch d’agrumes au début mais le tout se dissipe rapidement vers une finale sèche, amère et fade.

Pour is murky orange with a massive cap that lasts forever and leaves a bit of lace. Nose is pine/floral hops, light citrus, and a surprising amount of yeast as it warms. For a beer that’s all about the hops, it’s a little lacking in terms of distinction, though not in bitterness. Nice diversion from my usual citrus/tropical fruit hop bombs, though.

Bottle from IGA. Aroma: pine, grapefruit. App: gold, nice big long lasting carbonation, clear with white-tanned head. Taste: medium to heavy bitterness with some sweetness. pines, a little bit of grapefruit, expect more because of the smell. Palate: light body, thin and oily texture, nice carbonation and bitter finish. Overall: Not really a complex IPA, a little bit too much straight to the point. I prefer my IPAs with more complexity and more fruits than this one. Though, another not bad IPA from Quebec.

500 ml bottle from St. Nicholas Metro. Pours a murky golden orange with big, creamy cream-coloured head and lots of pretty large floaties. Aroma is resinous, grassy and a little citrusy with a bit of malty sweetness. Flavour is dominated by punchy resiny/grassy/citrusy hops; a little sweet, fruit malt is in there too. Reasonably bitter finish. Solid.
