Boum! Hops. Hops. Even more hops. Alright... we got it... and we deliver. Here is La Houblonière. It is essentially an intense hop infusion... disguised as a blond ale. We kept the malt flavors as well as the alcohol content under control so you could experience an explosion of hops in your mouth. Boum!

Pours a hazy golden topped by a huge frothy head showing great retention and leaving big chunky lacing. The nose is fresh with big floral hops and some light caramel. The taste is bold and hoppy with dense floral notes, with again, some light caramel coming through at the end. The brew hold decent carbonation and feels full on the palate. It finishes low and slow with the hops lingering though a mellow bitterness. Pretty nice product. Cheers!

500 ml bottle. Pours a foggy golden orange with a long-lasting white head. Tastes like cereals, with a subtle, well-controlled bitterness, reminiscent of flowers and citrus. Medium to full bodied, resinous mouthfeel. Very good pale ale.

Very complex hoppy aromas, very citrus; notes of lemon, grapefruit, orange, lime, ginger. We also find pine accents and a very slight caramel. Lightly cloudy golden color with very creamy head, good lacing and long lasting. Flavors are hoppy all over with accents of citrus, orange, grass and other ones found in aromas.Caramel is sober with a slight roasted accent. Hops are sharp and long lasting in mouth.

Great bitter mixed with a balanced floral and grain taste. The appearance is cloudy, like most of IPA.

Appearance: slightly hazy medium gold with one finger of loose white head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: pithy citrus, pine, floral, pale malt. (8/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderately strong bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium body tending slightly to the watery, moderate carbonation, off-dry lingering bitter finish. (4/5) Not bad at all! More like an A/IPA than an APA, perhaps, but as I’ve observed on more than one occasion, the finer points of the distinction between those two styles continues to elude me. Sufficed to say this thing has lots of fragrant hop aroma, backed up by a decent but not overwhelming bitterness on the tongue, and in particular on the finish. A bit simplistic, perhaps, but ultimately it’s clean and pleasant. (16/20)

500mL bottle from Broue Ha Ha. Pours a somewhat hazy gold with a large biege head. The aroma is very interesting, loads of hops of course. It had a weird vaseline-like character in it at first but after digging deeper this developed into more interesting hop characters. I think my bottle was rather old but the hop activity is impressive regardless. Flavour is very satisfying, piney hop bite upfront met with some delicious biscuity malt body, finishing dry with yeast and old hop aspects. Feels light on the palate, and the carbonation is not excessive. Slightly stale but this didn’t detract from the experience. For an old bottle (August 2012 I think) this beer held up extremely well.

This impressed me. Some great citrus aromas, lemon, blood orange, and grapefruit. The pine, and resins come through after it’s all done. The malts anr there but they stayin the foreground and just keep everything together. The flavour is more hops, but the bitterness is kept in check. The finish is a light to medium bitterness with another dose of great citric hops.
