L’Interdite, an American-style India Pale Ale (IPA), harkens back to 1919 when the prohibition laws forbidding the manufacture and selling of alcohol were enacted in the USA. L’Interdite invokes a time when beer barrels were dumped into the sewers during the American Prohibition era. When brewing was again permitted, powerful bittering hops rapidly dominated the market. We brew L’Interdite in homage to these times. Hopped for 90 minutes, this beer is flavorful and…very bitter! Floral and herbaceous notes are complemented by complex citrus flavours and a subtle malty taste.

Pours a clear copper with a thin offwhite head that leaves light lacing. Aroma is kinda citrusy, but overall screams old hops. This isn’t an old bottle, though... Either that or they didn’t put any thought into aroma additions. In short: not much american character there. Taste is sweet and bitter (medium-high). Some citrus here again and flowers. Not much hop flavors though, only bitterness. Long and intense grapefruit peel "white" (the bitter part) finish. Carbonation level is medium, body too. Not an homerun by any mean.

341 ml. bottle sampled @ Delirium Cave. Pours a dark toffee amber with a creamy, solid off-white head. Nose is grapefruit, pine, mandarin, fruity, USA style hops, touch sweeter than usual. Taste is toffee, sweetish herbs, malty sweet, candy sugar, caramel with bitter grass & hebrs, long bitter floral & grass finish. Not the best, not entirely there but very enjoyable IPA never the less. Thicker candy sugar body.

Bottle 341ml [6,5%] Pours slightly hazy brown with low beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is of citrus, resin, sugar. Taste is of citrus, alcohol, malt, sugar, bitterness, resin. Palate: Medium body. "OK" balance. Overall: A tad too malty for me but certainly a decent IPA.

Pours a deep amber with some particals in it. Aroma of caramel, grass, piney hops and sweet floral esters. Taste of caramel malty , piney hops, grass, pine resin and a nice smooth bitterness on the finish. A bit unbalanced but pretty decent overall.

Dark orangish color, almost copper, with a foamy big head that diminish but doesn’t disappear. Marked lace. Deep hoppy aroma, with floral, piney and citric notes over a malty (biscuit) base. Extremely bitter, it’s well balanced as it developes, to end in a dry and lingering finish. Flavours to lemon, grass, pine resin, flour and some yeast hint. Medium development and body and carbonation. Watery texture. Refreshing and easy to drink. A very correct beer.

Bottle to pint glass A very malty aroma with caramel, straw, toasted oats and lemongrass. A very effervescence red tinged amber with a mottled creamy head and lots of lacing. The taste is a little peppery and lemony along with caramel ending with straight bitterness.

Dark amber body, medium off-white head, spotty lacing. Heavy caramel malts, earthy and piney hops. A bit out off-balance towards malts for my life. Medium bodied, gentle carbonation, semi-sweet malts, light bitterness, a bit of a muddled finish.

Not all that great. A 90 minute hop and they cant get it right. Pours a bright golden orange with a disgusting soapy off white head. mild hoppy flavors with a bit of caramel and toasted bread malts. Just a boring IPA for such a high hopped brew.
