3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Metalchopz (1789) - Cantley, Quebec, - MAY 9, 2012Purchased a mixed 12-pack of "Les Connaisseurs" beers from this brewery. Watch out for the overflow. Pours a clean dark amber colour with a warm cap that is creamy-frothy, creating a foamy lace after staying quite a long time. Caramel aromas with some notes of hop (mild pine). Medium-bodied mouthfeel. Malty taste with the nice bitterness getting a bit stronger in the finish, and a beautiful dryness lingers, quite a while. Hints of butterscotch also appears in the background. A decent IPA that has more hop bite in the mouth than in the nose.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 dandeman (230) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 1, 2013
I had tasted this beer back in October 2011 and kind of liked it at the time. But since, I’ve tasted a lot of good IPAs and changed my opinion on it.
Aroma: Floral, citrus, with little notes of orange. Power of aroma is very average.
Appearance: Amber / copper, mostly hazy, it shows a nice thick beige creamy head, long lasting and leaving a small lacing.
Taste: Right from the start we’re facing a very dry bitterness with herbal and grassy notes. Very dry earthy notes with a bit of ash. Very dry bitterness. We can also find dandelion and other related floral notes as long as malty caramel and grain touch. A bitter beer with very complex flavors, but no major dominant taste. It is indeed a good quality beer but nothing is making me say ’’wow’’ to it. And I do like IPAs
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 AlainG (655) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 26, 2013
08’12) (544-270213)
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Bière-Luc (359) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 23, 2013
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 solidfunk (1919) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 15, 2013
Pours cloudy red with very good lacing and head. Pretty unbalanced. Tastes like something has gone wrong and it doesn’t seem like the age - not sure how much better it would be fresh. Not much hops, but then again it’s old. Mostly malt with a light dose of floral hops. Not sure what the whole 90 minute marketing is, but this certainly isn’t Dogfish head. Bottle at volos.
3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 NickyB (2) - - APR 13, 2013 does not count
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 lesifflebiere (542) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 6, 2013
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Cirrhosis (1086) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - APR 2, 2013
Glowing brown, zero cap. Aroma is cold lake water, faint lemon-lime, caramel....... so very faint almost impossible to pick it up. Taste is faint and intensely bitter. Lemon, possible watermelon, wood, leather, grassy sweetness. I’m so bored drinking this STOP BORING ME!!!!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bunget (325) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 13, 2013
341ml bottle. A hazy copper body. medium beige head with good retention. Sweet aroma: caramel, grapefruit, spices, apricot, camp flowers, autumn leaves. Taste is mild upfront, lots of caramel, followed by a big wave of herbal hops bitterness, overwhelming bitterness, grapefruit zest and spices.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 VerticalBaconStrips (1904) - Assat, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 10, 2013
Bottle 6 of 6. Decent beer that grows on me and then gets shed like snake skin. Quite frootycaramel, Yoga Loft aroma - the stuff in the spray bottles for cleaning my mat, earth, faint pumpkin pie spice, floral stuff, soothing fruit sweetness of the mild sort. Taste iz ok and highly drinkable even though I find this too gassy. Light spice of the same vein, a mixed bag of citrus with nothing coming to the forefront except some unsweetened grapefruit, earthy caramel bits. Zippy bitter finish with dank malts. I dig or not. Maybe this is a tad old? dunno. It’s a decent IPA with plenty of bitterness to hold me at bay. Go Whalers.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 JesseM (1124) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 3, 2013
341mL bottle from Broue Ha Ha. Pours a nice clear orange with minimal white head. The aroma has a lot of nice hops but nothing really stands out. Mild malt character, very faint. Flavour is sort of like well-done homebrew, I can almost taste malt and/or hop extract here. Not bad, but kind of a one-trick-pony and it lacks balance. The bitterness is rough and abrasive, the malt body thin and without much character. Drinkable but I had high hopes considering the cool story/marketing.
