3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lubiere (8243) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 26, 2011
A reddish copper ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, a superb citrus pulp and pinhey hops, flowers, just superb and classic. In mouth, a smooth caramel malt with load of floral hops, a bit simple but good, light grapefruits, a bit unbalanced but good. On tap at Brouhaha, June 17 2011.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sammy (7035) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 15, 2011
On tap at Mondiale 2012. West Coast IPA, good aromas, tangerine taste. Carbonation is right there, and rated 1000 IBU, this is a palate shready. Lacey, medium mouthfeel, good drinkability.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 13, 2011
My Bottom Line:
This very bitter India Pale Ale is bulky and caramelly, focusing on its unforgiving resinous finish more than its potentially engaging hop flavors.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the hazy amber.
-The aroma was too dull for a style which is supposed to showcase bright, explosive hops.
-I see the link with DFH, but this is simply not the kind of IPA that will stand out around here. There are plenty of sweet interpretations of the style, imho.
-Hop flavors were linear; coniferous and resinous.
-Drinkability was quite low even though this is 6%.
On tap at the Mondial.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jercraigs (6477) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 15, 2011
2011-09-11. Dark amber body with a nice off-white head and great lace. 3+ Moderate hoppy bitterness throughout, modest green leafy notes and mild citrus character below. Lingering bitterness is very lightly astringent. Aroma is similarly hoppy, leafy green hops has a mild earthy touch to it and mild resin. 6+ Average plus palate. Pretty decent. On tap at Brasseurs du Temp, Gatineau
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rastacouere (6044) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 7, 2011
A large and lasting white head thrones above the straight amber. Piney, resinous, woodsy nose is hop-forwad and direct, including a leafy tea-like connotation that removes to the explosiveness. Spicy, resinous bitterness dominates the palate while hefty doses of crystal malts try to balance it out. As bitter as it is aromatic, it packs a grapefruity punch that it spreads above its biscuity malts that develop a fair dose of sweetness, bringing on caramel, borderline molasses cookie undertones. Rather round palate with very active, surrounding carbonation that never really bites. Good IPA, very bitter, not feeling particularly fresh unlike more remarkable dry-hopped examples, but a pleasant hop fix for people who are into crystal malts.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 HogTownHarry (5639) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - OCT 22, 2012
May 3, 2012 - with blankboy, garthicus, gregclow, jercraigs & mabel. 341ml bottle c/o J&M. Hazy deep amber with a huge foamy tan lasting head. Fairly strong florally bitter aroma, some alcohol, an odd tang to it. Taste is fairly metallic, resin bitterness too but mostly pungently floral - a very light somewhat sweet fruity caramel malt backbone. Average body, solid carbonation, not a very long floral dry bitter finish, a bit sweet in the aftertaste - really didn’t love it.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 blankboy (5152) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 12, 2012
Bottle [341ml] shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o j&m. Pours a deep orange-copper with a large fluffy white head. A bit of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt, some light sweetness, bread and fruit. Flavour is sweet and malty with only light hops. Meh. Average bodied. Just O.K.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mabel (5043) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 24, 2012
[4414-20120504] 341mL bottle. Lightly yeasty aroma has a strange pear grass background. Clear, orange body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Burnt petrol-soaked leaves flavour. Medium body. Interesting. (6/4/6/3/14) 3.3
Overheard: "We just have to live in secret from forever."

Bottle. Golden copper with lasting foam. Aroma of woody and citrus hops with a hinty of thick malt. Hop forward with a strong malt characteristic that comes up in the middle and then slowly fades through the finish leave a herbal medicinal hop aftertaste. A nice pub IPA.
