Since the end of prohibition, brewing beer has never been as popular. Always wanting more flavors in his IPA, the home brewer experimented with more malts and hops. L’Interdite 120 minutes presents mellow flavors of caramelized malts and hops. The long boil of this imperial IPA, which is hopped every minute for two hours, gives it fruity and herbaceous flavors that balance the warmth of the alcohol and the residual sugars.

341 mL bottle. Orange-brown with a small white head. The aroma is mostly sweet citrus - tangerines, maybe. There is some resin in there as well, along with a little caramel. Pretty appealing. In the flavour, the hops are perhaps more tropical than citrus, and they are balanced (relatively speaking) by a little sweet honey/caramel malt. Decent body. Nice IIPA.

Pour is dark gold/orange with a finger of white cap that sticks around for a little bit, but not as long as you’d want - like a cute girl you don’t have a chance with but who thinks you’re really nice. Man these similes are getting too personal. Nose is floral/herbal/piney/soapy hops, with some faint citrus, and caramel. Taste-wise I pick up more of the tropical fruit described in the reviews below. Mouthfeel is oily, but also slightly creamy, which kind of works. Alcohol is virtually invisible, save to provide some balancing warmth on the bitter pine finish. Solid overall , if a little nondeScript.

Hazy deep orange with a small off white head that leaves some sparse lace. Nose is muted tropical fruit, toffee and honey. Taste brings out more character than the nose with a light sweet toffee and honey supporting a medium bitter pine and citrus with some candied apricot and only the slightest booziness. Medium oily with average carbonation and a lingering bitter finish. Interesting but it wouldn’t be a regular choice of IPA.

Bottle from La Grange Marché, Montréal - QC. Color: deep blond beer with small carbonation and small white foam. Smell : nice malt and caramel notes with grassy and hoppy presence. Notes of yeast. Taste: sweet and caramel sensation on mouth really nice taste with hops and some resin taste. Notes of yeast. Aftertaste: nice equilibirum of malt, caramel and hops. Really good balance! Amazing beer I really recommend it. By the style, this beer is really amazing. The mix of the belgium style and the bitter of the hops from the IPA is really great and with a 120m this is excellent... Good job!

Deep golden pour with a thick white head. The aroma is quite tropical. Citrus and a bit of candied fruit. Has a touch of fruit and some nice lingering bitterness. Lightly sweet but well balanced. Delicious.

Pours cloudy, hazy, faded orange, with a lot of carbonation. Medium thickness off-white head. Aromas of caramel and oranges. Taste wise it is surprisingly malty up front, but gives way to a fruity, light hoppiness on the swallow, with some definite sweetness, and a slight booziness. Overall, this isn’t the best IPA I’ve ever had (not even the best out of Quebec), but I would most definitely buy/drink this quality brew again.

Opaque amber, small off-white foam, big bubble. Light caramel, honey smell. Some citrus, clementine and tangerine. Some alcohol. Strange bitter taste, resinous. sharp. Not a great DIPA.
