Whew, an explosive spiciness explodes out of that one. It came out in time for Christmas after all. Crystal clarity surprises amidst the terracota to burgundy hue. The head laces pretty well, but the sharp brand new Bordeaux glass must be encouraging that thoroughly I suspect. Fruits and especially spices utterly dominate the nose, the fruits being of a date-like, caramelly nature while the spices seem to focus on coriander and anis although clove and ginger certainly cross my mind. Frankly, the spices seem to have stripped out some of the malt nuances, exit caramel or chocolate nuances, exit rich the typical rich grapeyness. This, paired with the intense filtration which has more than likely removed texture feel like minor tweaking could improve it dramatically. As it is, it does not feel complex/captivating enough for me to endure the heavy sugariness by processing with further purchases. Relatively thin, yet slick and sticky mouthfeel with sparse carbonation. While the alcohol is more than a mere presence, it is never exagerated and that makes it less fatiguing on the palate. This falls quite outside the scope of my personal preferences where I like dark phenolic strong Belgian brews more on the vinous and attenuated realm. As a side note, I added a bottle to a spaghetti sauce, inspired by Bier Circus’ Chimay spaghetti sauce and it added a great kick.

This ruby red beer with its sugary yeast smell is delicious. After of letting it settle for 3 months, she gained a stronger metalish and yeast taste. Settle this one anywhere in the day. Cheers!

2012 bottle. Pours dark brown with ruby red translucency and thin white head. Aroma of sugar and spices. Taste is overcumbered by cinnamon with ripe fruits and other spices poking through. The cinnamon is a bit of an overkill.

A murky brown with a bit of red hue. Big aims of fruit and spices, overwhelming clove and cinnamon and gingerbread. Taste is strong clove and gingerbread but with some nice dark red fruit in there and caramel. This is real decent beer but I can’t stand clove, reminds me of dental surgery.

Texture huileuse. Arôme de banane trop mûre. Note de figue.

Excellente !
