Pours black with a one finger, tan head that fades to nothing very quickly. Smell is slightly sweet with coffee and chocolate.Taste is very sweet. Hints of coffee but not much.Syrup texture. Low to medium carbonation. Not a fan.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours ok, pitch black with good mocha head, some lacing. Aroma is like one of those booze chocolates except the chocolate isn’t that good. This isn’t a total disaster - there are some decent elements that could make for a good beer if tweaked a little like an interesting smoked malt aroma. Finishes oddly sweet and boozy though and generally unbalanced. Bottle.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
This spiced-up Imperial Stout lays out coriander, licorice and roastiness onto viscous molasses, while alcohol heat and green hop bitterness slowly rise in the second half.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-The head of foam loudly pops and fizzes away into the darkness.
-The mouthfeel could be tighter; the tiny bubbles cannot balance out the portentous residual sugars.
-If this were a Cigar City Imperial Stout (cause it tastes like one), it would be getting much better reviews.
-The nose is overwhelmingly spicy. In a blind tasting, from the aroma alone, I would have said this is an Abbaye des Rocs brew...
-You can almost feel your teeth getting deeper cavities with each sip...
-This tastes like a tweak of Le Saint-Bock’s R.I.P...

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a medium size brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of star anise with light roasted malt/black chocolate notes and some residual sugar notes. Taste is a great mix between some black chocolates notes with loads of star anise notes and some residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good c carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I am not the biggest fan of the brewery and the previous ratings are quite bad but I actually really enjoyed this one.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Rating #5133)

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Single from Marché Omni. Pours a dark brown colour with red highlights. Big lighter brown coloured head with average retention and not much lace. Sweet nose with some roasted malts, dark fruits (plum), grapes (Merlot wine-like, like leather), molasses and hints of pepper. Medium-thick syrupy mouthfeel and mild warming. Dark fruits start, then showing the roasted malts with the notes of coffee, chocolate and molasses. The finish is actually hoppy with some grassy bitterness and light dryness. Not too bad, but a little too sweet and punchy (wish it was better blended).

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
341 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha served cool in a tulip glass. Deep brown-black with a thin light mocha veil. Peppery, cooked green pepper, harsh black coffee, some nice dark chocolate notes and deep treacle and toffee, a bit of black coffee, sweet smelling. Medium body (oddly thin for style, look and smell) with gentle effervescence and fair astringency. Lots of caramel and toffee, coffee abounds, sweet, boozy; quite sweet, cloying, reasonable bitterness that is harsh and somewhat acrid, oddly thin with a nasty coffee aftertaste. Fail.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
341ml bottle. Very dark, very little light goes through, very small head. Smells a little like a barley wine, a little fruity, tropical sweetness and coffee. Coffee and chocolate with a bit of citrus and sour. Body is thick, burns a little. Overall, not bad, but I am skeptical of its drinkability in anything but the smallest quantities.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
While not a good representation of the style (no hoppiness to balance the sweetness of the malts) it is not as bad as the rating suggests. If u like sweet beers it goes down smooth with decent mouthfeel it’s just too sweet and lacks complexity.
