COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Upon their arrival in Bavaria, beers brewed in Einbeck were much appreciated. In the Bavarian pronunciation, "Einbeck bier!" became "Eine bock bier!" (One bock beer!). This type of malty lager took the name bock. The billy-goat (bock in German) became its symbol. L’Entêté is inspired by the traditionally darker dunkel bocks of Bavaria. Its well perceived toasted malt notes along with a slightly caramelized touch gives L’Entêté a nice mouthfeel that will satisfy the malty beer amateur. Its continental noble hops balance the flavors without bringing much bitterness. Prost!

A wonderful golden red liquid. Now that’s a really appealing brew. Nice munich malt notes. I am sold on munich malt, and maybe it’s the lack of Bock around here, but this brew gave me great fun. Might be a 3 if i’d rate in Deustchland, but here in Saint-Eustache, it’s all good malt.

Bouteille 500ml.

500 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served cool in a tulip glass. 12NO12.

App.: Beautiful deep ruby-copper with a nice orange-tan head. Aroma: Extremely metallic, iron, oddly fruity, a touch infected, bad. Palate: Medium body, very relaxed effervescence. Flav.: Still metallic, some decent malts, a touch of infection, a little burnt sugar, messy; dry with more bitterness than appropriate (my opinion), and a not terrible dark/almost burn malt finish.

Looked great. Looks aren’t everything.

Pours a dark brown with a velvet beige top. Aroma is chocolate and dark caramel malts. Taste is a strong slightly bitter toasted and toffee in the malt profile. A little chocolate to finish.

Aroma: Typical malt caramel and roasted notes, hazelnut and sugar cane. Moderate intensity. Very standard malted beer aroma. Appearance: Clear brown with red glints developing a creamy average head. Moderate lasting, sticking a bit on glass but no lacing. Taste; Very malty flavors with a hoppy finish. We can find roasted bread, caramel, sugar cane and roasted notes. Bittering hops for finish. Body is medium and texture is slightly oily. Average!!!!!

Bottle 500ml. Pours mahogany with medium beige head, diminishing. Some lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt. Taste is of roasted malt, bitterness, sligth acidity. Palate: medium-full body. Overall: Not complex, pretty straigth-forward. No big flaw either. Not impressive, not bad.

Good smell of malt here with some aromas of spice. A little roast as well and some caramel. Pours mahagony with some good creamy foam and a little lacing. Taste leaves with a little sweetness and a little bitterness. Decent, drinkable beer. 500 ml bottle thanks to Boutip.

My Bottom Line:
Wooden hops and Munich malts’ candied fruit angles converge onto an earthy aftertaste in this well-made but ultimately unmemorable Dunkler Bock.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam decorates the clear mahogany.
-The soft mouthfeel increases drinkability, which is quite high for the style.
-This is on the dry side for a Dunkler Bock, imho.
-The flavor profile is balanced.
-Malts could be a bit more expressive.
-Mineral edges appear here and there.

Bottle.
