COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stout Moka. English: L’Exploité recalls a time when dark and sweet beers were the staple beers of the London Harbour porters who worked very hard unloading bags of mocha coffee and cocoa beans. L’Exploité is brewed with these ingredients and presents complex torrefied notes with subtle hints of vanilla. We find tastes of alchoolized coffee, chocolate and roasted malts balanced with the bitterness and the residual sugars. (Contains lactose.)

UPDATED: APR 21, 2013 Bottle - Smells like chocolate syrup but in a nostalgic good way. Opaque brown black with an off white head. Bitter chocolate and coffee with a bitterness throughout. Body is a bit lacking and the cloying finish doesn’t do it for me.

courtesy of Laurent Mousson - black beer with a little beige foam left; strong aroma of mocha and vanilla with some grainy notes; velvety palate, some sweetness; a good malt body; a fair earthy bitterness before long notes of mocha and nuts in the finish

341ml bottle Pours in a pitch black with a creamy white head. Sweet aromas of milkshake and milk chocolate. Full body, very sweet, with cacao and cold vanilla coffee dominating the mix, with a very slight metallic presence in the middle palate that is hidden prety quickly by all the sweetness of the chocolate malts. A bit too sweet for my taste but still a good beer. It deserve well it’s Stout Moka moniker.

October 30, 2011 - Volo Cask Days 2011 - gravity cask. Impenetrable black with a small frothy tan head. Aroma of licorice, nutty roast, coffee and crushed mint leaves, herbal with mild lactic sourness and alcohol. Taste follows, with dry charred oak barrel - perhaps a little light on the malt body. Thin, slick, weakly carbonated, has a sweet raisiny sticky finish - a bit disappointing after that tremendous roasty aroma.

UPDATED: OCT 15, 2013 Bouteille 341ml. Carbonation moyenne, moyennement riche.

Pours like coca cola. Has an odd sweet kind of aroma, with some more cola kind of a vibe, some vanilla and mocha but it doesn’t really blend very well. Comes together in a mishmash of tastes that has some sweetness, bitter, and even some kind of herb. Can’t say I’m a huge fan. Bottle from Peluso.

Purchased a mixed 12-pack of "Les Connaisseurs" beers from this brewery. Pours a real dark brown colour with very little red highlights. The creamy-bubbly head is light brown in colour, huge, very long-lasting and fogs all sides with lacing. Beautiful roasted malts at first, then the coffee comes out with notes of chocolate, molasses, dark fruits and vanilla to balance things out. Silky, a bit watery mouthfeel with not much stickiness. The hop comes out in the taste, and it is the one I am not fond of (that makes beer taste rusty). It does calm down after a while and you can only taste it in the finish. Kind of sweet tasting overall with cocoa and even apples. Not really feeling the coffee much here. Still, not bad, but prefer the taste of the Mill Street Coffee Porter (even though different styles - great coffee taste).

Pours a bubbly black with a gaseous mocha head the laces out quickly. The aromas are great vanilla, chocolate, wheat, malts, boozy coffee and a hint of violet.... on the lips its has a medium body with a good bubbles... but the flaors are not quite as complex as the aromas... slight chocolatey coffer taste with heavy malt and a nice semisweet finish.

Verse une biére noire, opaque. Le col beige s’estompe rapidement et laisse ses traces sur le verre. L’arôme est celle de café, chocolat et d’alcool. En bouche, sucre et café. Bon équilibre.
