COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ahhh! English bitters! A very popular style in British pubs. They are easy to drink and highly thirst quenching with their slightly malty and hoppy dry profile. Our rye version brings a unique flavour to the blend to which the English hops Golding and Fuggle are added. La Seiglerie offers the typical bitter’s slight maltiness, with spicy flavours introduced by a good amount of malted rye. Dry hopping brings a floral finish without much bitterness. I’ll have another one, me lad!

Bottle: Poured a light brown color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light dry caramel malt with a dry floral hoppy finish. Taste is dominated by dry caramel malt with wonderful floral hoppy notes. Body is light with good carbonation. Rye notes are not that dominant by hoppy floral finish is really great – I wish I had access to more 4% ABV beer that are so flavourful.

Bouteille 500ml.

A hazed amber ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, a sweet biscuit malt with rye and vegetal notes, and light cinnamon notes. In mouth, sweet grainy malt with light British hop, a bit of metallic rye notes, a bit off. On tap at St-Graal, Nov. 25 2012.

Bottle 500ml. Pours hazy golden with white head. Good lacing. Aroma and taste are of malt, spices, sweetness. Not bad, easily drinkable.

Pours a foggy amber with a big pillowy white head. Aroma is earthy hops and caramel malts. Taste is a great upfront earthy hop bitterness surrounded with caramel and toffee sweetness with a touch of grass from the mat.

My Bottom Line:
Floral hops and spicy rye develop a delicate profile for this dry and bubbly session ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the hazy pale amber.
-Carbonation feels forced, which it shouldn’t for this type of brew, imho.
-Drinkability is very high, which I love.
-Light doughy sugars are found here and there.
-Hops contribute light earthy bitterness too.

Bottle.

On tap at Vices&Versa, cloudy amber hue, with a ring of beige head, with a yeasty, fruity, grainy toasted, caremel, rye malt nose, with a faint herbal floral leafy, hop note, with a light spicy vegetal, estery accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a mild yeasty, fruity, grainy toasty, caramel, bready, rye maltiness character, with some toffee, light flowery leafy, grassy hop flavours, leading towards a faint bitter almond, lingering leafy, grassy, hop bittering finish.

500 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Cloudy deep amber with a full light tan head. Aroma: Slightly tangy (infected?), some sweet malts, a bit fruity (old apple juice), a touch peppery/spicy, maybe some faint esters?, so-so. Palate: Medium body, with fairly full, somewhat loose effervescence. Flav.: Somewhat peppery/spicy, fairly malty, a bit floral, decent; dry with decent bitterness and a slightly watery, peppery, somewhat malty finish. OK, I guess.
