On tap at the brewery, honey gold color, with a white head, leaving laces, grainy pale malt, wet cereals, with a faint flowery hops in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a crisp pale malt graininess, with a subtle honeyish accent, faint candied citrusy, leading towards a mild grassy hops bitterness finish.

Clear and rather dark, burnished orange. Fading white head. A fair dose of pils malt and a confident backing of darker types make for a not too banal malt profile, that develops slightly candied notes, though never really sweet, sometimes heading toward apple skin. Clean final product, mostly malt oriented, with approachable hops as a balancing backing. Very effervescent.

Any first impressions?
-A ring of foam circles the gleaming light copper.
-Toasted malts and citrusy whispers form a shy, but able aroma.
-Caramel malt does offer some delicate fruitiness in the flavor profile.
-An apt wave of effervescence surges over the very clean and lean mouthfeel.

What if you dig deeper?
-Simplicity is a virtue, but a little more personality would be more attractive.
-Its cleanliness is almost exaggerated; this is so easy to drink.
-Supporting hops dry out the back end, but the next sip is inevitable anyway.
-I don’t necessarily see the purpose of this beer on their menu since they already have the Public House blonde, but I guess the people in the countryside around there can’t be expected to try too challenging products for now.

On tap at the brewery.

Miguel (1181) - Saint-Ours, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 25, 2006
Robe blonde très claire surmontée d’une mousse blanche qui s’estompe. Arômes légers de malt. Saveurs de malt, de citron et de houblon amérisant.
