Bottled, thanks Timo A! Black with creamy tan head. Coffeish aroma with licorice and sulphur. Dry roasty coffeish flavor with licorice. Oily palate. Tasty but somewhat simple.

341 ml bottle from La Barik. Pours a dark brown with large tan head. Aroma is roasty but fairly mild with some coffee and a little cocoa. Flavour is quite roasty with coffee, grains and cocoa. Some coffee bitterness in finish. Decent, but nothing spectacular.

Originally rated January 2007. Purchased at the Dépanneur À-Tout-Prix in Laval, Quebec. Pours a real dark brown (almost black) with slight red highlights. The head is big, light brown, has good retention, great lacing and is creamy. The nose is fine with coffee and grainy/roasted malts. Medium-bodied with a nice dry mouthfeel, and still a mild wetness. Full flavours with roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, with the hop well mixed to not overpower. A very well-brewed dry stout that is recommended.

Ale noire opaque au goût subtile de café. Très effervescente, mousse débordante (j’ai eu besoin de deux verres et ça débordait encore!). Une légère amertume.

341ml bottle. Love the label. Starts to foam when its opened but poured quickly into a glass. A nice dark back, thin dark tan head, eventually small bubbly lacing that lasts the entire pour. Aroma of roasted bread/malt, nuttiness (like a good nut brown), some oatmeal, High carbonation, light/medium bodied, mildly bitter at first, bitter and bubbly on the finish, more nutty and almost smoky then what I would have thought. Overall without the style listing on the bottle would have though it was a dark nut brown - not bad if you want something nutty and smoky but prefer their hoppy over this.

341ml bottle. pours jet black with a huge, creamy tan head that leaves tons of lacing on the pint glass. aroma is roasted coffee grain, molasses, and some smoke too. very nice. in the mouth is where this beer disappoints. i’m not getting enough coffee and chocolate, i’m getting too much molasses and metal shavings. a little bit of herbal hops at the end. body is too thin for my liking. not bad, but nothing special either.

A really nice drinkable stout. It is lacking a bit of complexity in flavours that would put it at par with some of my top rated stouts but nevertheless is a very good realization of a standard stout.

Bottle. Pours a black body with a tan head and light retention. Malty body with roasted malt tones, light coffee hints, hints of chocolate. Mild body, soft with a hint of burnt malt. Bitter sweet, a fine stout.

Pours coffee black with no head. Aroma is roasted barley, not roasted properly, just roasted enough to show you that it’s roasted. Taste is bitter baker’s chocolate and dark coffee. Smooth finish. Working on a few levels, but not all of them.
