(Rating #5620)

Hazy gold, big fluffy white head. Big wheat aroma, light citrus, and some yeast. Very effervescent, very active mouth feel. Slightly peppery finish, with light citrus and a lot of wheat.

Part of a 750 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear golden with a full, fluffy white head. Aroma: Bright citrus and light herbal notes, grassy/peppery notes, esters, light eucalyptus, a little floral honey, yeast and wet bread dough, stone fruits, pretty nice, perhaps a little sweet for my preferences. Palate: Medium body, soft, pillowy, relaxed effervescence. Flav.: Less expressive than the nose, some citrus and herbal character, a little funk, dryer than the nose would let on, lightly spicy/peppery; dry with pretty good bitterness and a somewhat zingy, spicy, peppery finish.

The flavour doesn’t quite live up to the aroma, but the overall impression is favourable.

Boutip (4656) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 29, 2013
Bottle: Poured a hazy and cloudy golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of spices with some rustic malt notes and some residual sugars notes. Taste is a good mix between some light spices, some rustic malt notes with some yeast also noticeable at the end. Body is full with good carbonation. Well brewed overall but a bit short on complexity and too much residual sugar for my taste

Poured in a Hill Farmstead goblet, how ironic. The liquid itself is a hazy golden and is topped by a nice creamy white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of grains, spices (mostly black pepper) and a little flowery hops. Taste is dry-ish, I wouldn’t say there is any sweetness in there but a simple impression of sweetness. A definite bitterness. Flavors are fruity and grainy with again some spices. Body is medium-light and mouthfeel is kinda creamy. Carbonation level is medium-high. A good "standard" saison...

on tap festibière de québec. pours hazy very light yellow with a nice white head, some retention and lacing. crisp and pale cereals, subtle but present saison character - spicy, light fruity esters, ginger, hint of lemon and its acidity, few floral and herbal notes. bright to average carbonation, light body, dry spicy-herbal finish. a pleasant surprise, it actually makes me want to see/taste more of their saisons..

Pure cloudy gold here - just covered by a slight white sheet. Pleasant, rather tight aroma with lemony/limey/flowery hops adding some texture over the mostly yeasty aroma - more phenolic (Pepper) than estery, yet still globally fruity. Relatively dry palate with a certain rustic character emanating both from the large-bubbled, vigorous carbonation and the spicy vegetal notes from the pils malt. This has to be the most attenuated beer from Brasseurs Illimités. I appreciate its citric kick, texture and impression of lager-like freshness. It does not have the acid complexity, hop brightness or spicy nuances of my very favourite examples, but it has a room of its own in a Québec brew scene that starts to finally produce some characterful and attractive Saisons.
