Second Quebec lager tonight, both new beers of this summer 2014. Both in cans. Pours a clean golden-amber colour with a big fizzy off-white head that disappears quickly and leaves a bit of lacing. Very sweet nose with fruity notes and alcohol burn. Same for the taste. The fruity aspect here kind of saves this one. Was expecting worst on this one, but not a real bad malt liquor. And I am drinking this, room temperature.

473 ml can from Broue Ha Ha, served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear golden with large off-white head that fades quickly. Aroma: Sweet, fruity, boozy, somewhat Belgian (estery), solvent/acetone, biscuit malt. Palate: Medium+ body, somewhat Flav.: Sweet, fruity, lots of biscuit malt, a little Belgian ester character, more biscuit malt, booze, a touch of solvent/acetone; off-dry with some bitterness and a strong biscuit malt, then booze, fruit, acetone/solvent finish.

I’ve had worse. That’s not saying much.

pours clear bright yellow with a small white cap, little retention and lacing. fusel alcohol, sweet corn and malt extract, honey if not plain sugar, fruity notes - juniper berries, grape juice and booze, awkward phenols too. moderate carbonation, medium body - oily and sticky, sweet and faintly grassy-herbal finish. hot. DP.

Can 473ml. Pours blond with medium white head. Some lacing. Aroma is of grain, sugar, alcohol, some flowers. Taste is of grain, alcohol, sugar, some fair bitterness. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Soft carbonation. Somewhat sticky. Overall: Alcohol not well hidden at all (I think it’s the point). This is not a good beer. More like something to get drunk pretty fast.

Can - 500ml. Golden body with an average, fading white foamy head. Bad malty, oversweetened aroma with alcohol, corny, and candy hints. Its strong, horrible taste is dominated by alcohol and sweet flavors. Ends with a harsh, burning, sweet/alcohol finish. I will pour this rocketfuel in my sink the next time the drain is obstructed. It will do a better job than a liter of Drano.
