COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Projet Américain.

Bottle 341 ml. Bought at Peluso (Montreal). Pours clear golden with tiny white head. Aroma: earth hops, pineapple, malt. Taste is malty with strong bitter finish. Balance is so-so. Thin beer. I expected more from this beer, since I have read so much great reviews on this brewer.

On tap at St Augustine’s in Vancouver. A medium amber ale with a bit of pale head. Nose is faintly sweet. Some resinous hop detected up front. The only other taste impression is distinctly odd, due no doubt to an absence of barley in the grain bill. Blech! 2.5.

Draught, St Augs. Light amber. Toasty, with fruity hop. Light, bit thin, lots of hop. Herbal, almost sharp bitterness. Brown rice taste towards the finish. Lots of hops. Wow, gluten free has come a long way.

Draft at St. Augustine’s. Glad I chose to take a chance and sample this. What a surprise. The aroma is bright and fresh with mint and toast. The alternate malts are really amazing here, these brewers are expert craftsmen. I was convinced they had smoked something because I kept detecting peat smoke. There is a whole lot of flavor layered, with generous hopping that never seems out of balance. The body is quite substantial for a GF beer. If you think about it hard, the lack of malt sugars makes for a slightly thin body, but again, only if I think hard about it. I’ve had way thinner bodies and thinner flavors from barley beer. It would be quite easy for me to pint this one. This is the GF that can fool you.

Vaguely hoppy with a dusty malt aroma. Hazy orange color with light tan head. Taste is a floral-rye bubblegum, very strange. Light but creamy body. Doesn’t have a finish to speak of. Interesting enough, but go with the IPA.

Light yellow pour with small white head. Aroma of grains and faint floral hops. Taste of grains and faint hops. Light bodied, higher carbonation, really quite undrinkable.

Bottle @ home. Well, I’m curious what this will bring. The gluten free beers I’ve had in the past haven’t been very good so hopefully this will change things. Clear orange golden color, huge white head. Aroma has some hoppy notes, but a bit faint. Taste is pretty bitter with a decent hoppyness. Lightly floral as well. A bit too much carbonation imo, but otherwise a decent beer. Probably the first gluten free beer I’ve finished.

was thinking this was from euro, go figger. my red and silver pounder can says glutenberg american pale ale. has a nice head. .......looks like pale lager. smells fairly hoppy with some metal in the background. stronger flavor, does not hide alky too well. yes, that medium bitter personality starts to set in during the session. some wine in there too. since i was expecting something a little more civilized, a little disappointing. why go to canada when i can find this typical american pale ale taste all round here. neverthe less, glad to have had the chance to try it.

Dunkelgoldenes Bier mit ordentlicher Schaumkroen. Geruch hopfig, grasig, getreidig, blumig. So ist auch der Geschmack.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Golden color, bright, with compact head. The aroma is fresh, fruity, hoppy, crisp. Lean mouthfeel; good malt flavor, quite crisp, some cereals, with late light sugars; strong bitterness with plenty of hop qualities; balanced.
It has something peculiar given the absence of barley, but it’s barely noticeable. It’s a remarkable effort.
Very good.

473ml can. Pours a deep light amber with a lasting white head. Smell is light, vague citrus and vague grains, which give off a toasted almsot smoky smell. The flavor is immediately defferent than an all-grainbeer. But it is also different than a sorghum beer. It has a huge bitterness that jsut sticks on your tounge. Citrus notes, agree with the grapefruit mentioned in the description and smoke. This beer is also super dry.It definitely isn’t super good but it is on the right track. Definitley gets more comfortable each sip.
