COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

This beer contains chestnuts and molasses, and you can really tell. Nutty aroma with a sugary rum-like background, kind of smokey. Clear, reddish tan color. Flavor is not so much bitter as sharp, with dull sweetness that hangs around. Has a cola like carbonation feel, like a mixer might. Very interesting for any type of beer.

Pint can. Nose is sweet and malty, lightly toasty with very pleasant chocolate. Pours a deep, dark chestnut edging into mahogany, with a creamy-rocky tan head. Watery-thin body with smooth, gentle roast resolving to an airy mocha finish. Relatively dry, no alcohol, a little flat. An interesting earthy, near-bitter herbal note in the aftertaste, perhaps the chestnut? The roast covers up a lot of the flaws brought by the buckwheat, and this is by far the best beer I’ve had from them -- I’d be ecstatic if I couldn’t consume gluten.

16oz can labeled at Glutenberg Red Ale in the U.S. Pours a dark amber color with a frothy beige head. The aroma is malty with a slight smoke scent. The flavor is weak with grains and burnt taste of millet. Takes some getting used to as I am not big on the taste of millet.

Dark mahogany color with creamy head. The roasted malt aroma is a bit dusty. Smooth, not too dry; the body is weak; some roasted malt flavor, and light buttery feeling; correct bitterness; a bit dusty in the end. The final is lightly nutty.
Imprecise.

Pours dark copper with little head retention. Somehow not as pleasing to the eye as other copper ales. Smells like a bakery. Very sweet and cerealy, a bit strange to be honest, although it’s nice to have such a quantity of aroma for this type of beer. Tastes as bready as it smells, the mix of different cereals in this beer is really apparent in the flavour. Quite sweet, with some sourness also. A hoppy finish. Decent. Medium bodied and sticky.

(Draught at Little Delirium Café, Brussels, 26 Oct 2013) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of dark bread, dark fruit, cherries and a touch of oak wood. Malty, fruity taste with dark bread, dark fruit and a touch of oak wood. Medium body, with a balanced sweetness. A bit strange, with fairly short flavours. Quite enjoyable though.

Draft @ Little Delirium.

Pours cola with little head and no lacing. Nose is molasses and maybe espresso. Notes of molasses and some earthy bitterness. Light body with lively carbonation.
