Draft at brewery. Black and brown head. I do not like this as much as I like the regular Inertia. The bourbon barrel imparts lovely wood and vanilla, and that is nice but strips the beer of its innate character. Boozy and happy, and those who love barrel will like this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black with a dark tan head. Aroma is anise, coffee, fig, liquorice, plum. Full bodied, slightly velvety mouthfeel, rich and complex on the palate with a great balance of fruit and roast. Taste is anise, plum, fig, black tea, hint of chocolate and coffee, subtle oak and vanilla.

Noir avec une petite mousse marron. L’arôme de réglisse et alcool. Le goût est de réglisse, malt torréfié, même un peu brûlé, est un peu de café et vanille. Onctueux en bouche mais assez léger au même temps.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2014 Dark brown, has a malted milk, coffee and strong, boozy bourbon character. Very sweet, molassesy character with vanilla, and a big boozy finish. Pour over ice cream?

2014-07-05, draught at the brewery, 12oz, 11% ABV, 7-4-7-3-14=35
black color with dark brown borders and brown small head. Mild aroma, there is some chocolate, roasted malt and wood/barrel; light manure. Lean mouthfeel, partially smooth, off-dry for an Imperial Stout; strong flavor of roasted malt, undesired liquorice, some dark chocolate, a bit salty, and some barrel. Correct bitterness.
A good beer, but a bit messy, unclassy, and in 2014 more is expected from a BA Imperial Stout. Difficult to drunk the full glass.

2014-03-10, cask at Alibi Room, Vancouver, 9% ABV, 8-4-8-4-17=41
Black color with frothy but persistent brownish head. Mild aroma of roasted nuts, vanilla, wood, whiskey. Smooth mouthfeel; lean and good chocolate flavor, moderate sweetness, some vanilla and tobacco; correct bitterness.
Balanced, elegant and very appreciated.

On tap at Central City Winter Cask Fest. Best of the batch. Different than at Brassneck? Pours black with dark tan head. Aromas of vanilla, light bourbon alcohol, and roasted malts. Flavors are similar and rich: oak/vanilla and chocolate. Nice balance - bourbon is just right and not an overkill like many others. If this good on tap, wonder what a bottled version would taste like?

On tap at Brassneck, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out loads of roasted malt, fairly heavy bourbon, though it is not apparent that this is Jack Daniels. Flavour is still pretty heavy on the roasted malt, followed by intense Jack, and some alcohol. Pretty intense, but the choice of barrels don’t make for an optimal barrel aging experiment. A little harsh and not as enjoyable as the base beer. Still, great stuff.
