This is not our typical Bancreagie! Bancreagie Sour 26 was brewed smokier and heavier in an effort to handle eight months of barrel-aging. A hot, summer barrel rest with a noticeable dose of souring bacteria builds a unique, tart beer. Up front, tangy fruit reminiscent of apple, cherry and plum dominate, but then give way to vanilla, caramel, tobacco & sweet smoke.

Bottle, shared by Ferris. Orange amber body, off white head. Leathery peat married to a Flemish sour brown profile, caramel and dark fruits, old apples. Not puckeringly sour, and not astringently leathery either, so I guess this comes off as balanced in its own way. Certainly very interesting; I liked it!

Bottle - Soured dark malts and some peat. Cloudy maroon with a deck beige head. Tart cherry, malts and some peat. Wild and crazy, and funny enough not the best peated sour, but still good,

Bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has sour red fruit with a bit of pear and an earthy grain backbone. Flavor has a good amount of sour red fruit with a growing pear note and a light roasted malt note underlying.

On tap at GTMW - Pours red amber with a filmy light tan head. Tons of raspberry on the nose, sweet and malty. Taste is sweet raspberry, with malt and a little bit of smoke creeping in. Smooth, with a medium-thin body.

Pours a rusty amber color with two fingers of tight bubbled foam. Nose has interesting layers of tart fruit, cherry, apple, hints of smoked malt and honeyed sweetness. Palate ruins everything I was hoping for... straight copper pennies, iron... yuck, could not drink so metallic it was almost like drinking blood. Straight vampire juice.

Woodshed 3.0! 75cl bottle pours with a clear copper body that supports a tight tan head of foam. The mild aroma offers up malts, vague sourness and little else. The taste delivers smooth malts, smooth somewhat soured citrus that is sweetened by sugary malt notes and then sense of green to red apple fruitiness. This is a tasty sour where thereís a nice balance from front to back with a pleasing level of refreshment. What smoke is there comes across soft and subtle and adds just a bit more depth and interest. Nice.

Pours a dark reddish brown with a decent head and nice lacing on the glass.

The aroma is earthy and funky with a bit of lemony fruitiness and a good bit of balsamic vinegar.

The flavor is both peaty & smoky but also quite fruity and sour. Itís got a really neat blackberry character to it. Itís earthy and keeps the vinegar character at a fairly low level.

Reddish pour. Sour apples, light smoke/peat. A very interesting combo of smoke and sour.

Thanks to Bacterial for this one. Pours clear ruby with khaki head. Cherries, caramel, medium body. Peat is present, but isnít too strong, which keeps things nicely together. Reminds me some of Silver City Le Fat. Iím not usually a fan of too much peat, but this one works -- I dug it.
