3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks, Andy. Pours a nice copper color with an off-white head. Strong whiskey aroma, lots of vanilla, and a decent amount of oak. Sweet caramel and brown sugar, some dark fruits, and a bit of alcohol. Nice flavor to this. Plenty of dark fruit, brown sugar, and caramel. Big whiskey and barrel character. Nice vanilla and oak notes, some slight alcohol, and a hint of tobacco. A little thin on the body, but good otherwise.

Sweet and boozy. THe barrel adds a nice touch but the base beer I feel could use some work.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark amber, mahogany, caramel. Aroma is very odd, kind of sweet and sour fruit with a boozy twist. Taste pretty closely matches the aroma, with a sour sweet mix with a fairly strong aftertaste of bourbon whiskey. I love Brau Bros Beer, and will continue to support the brewery, but will most likely be buying the oatmeal milk stout, and hop heavy beers instead.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours amber brown with a beige head. Whiskey sweetness, toffee malts, light woody notes and lighter spicy fruity yeasty notes. Pretty good. It tasted like the base beer was pretty average, but the barrel aging adds a good dimension.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by Jay at tasting at my house. Pours brown with tan head. Nose and taste of whiskey, oak and malt with undercurrent of ripe dark fruit. Some beet or cane sugar in background. Comes off as an average quad that was heavily benefited by the barrel aging process. Medium body.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle as a gift from pepsiedcan that I took to Jamesí place for a tasting. Pours an almost clear copper tinged amber with a thin white head. The nose is beautiful, loads of wood and whiskey. Sort of want a Manhattan now. Medium bodied, warming alcohol right away. Warm whiskey and wood, a touch of the base beer comes through with some fruit and candy sugar notes, warm malt. Long wood and a bit more warming alcohol on the finish. The barrel comes through here in a big way, and itís lovely. Thanks Andy.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAY 1, 2013 [Bottle] Pours reddish brown with a decent beige head which fades fairly rapidly. Definite barrel presence in the aroma with a good deal of whiskey, mild to moderate alcohol, decent fruitiness too, with blackberry and black cherry. Taste definitely improves with warming, with lots of cherry and oak. Some diacetyl shows up, but not enough to ruin the beer, and it is quickly followed by a nice barley backbone. Alcohol is once again fairly restrained at first, although gets significantly stronger as it warms. I got some strawberry jam taste towards the end of my time drinking the beer. Average mouthfeel and finish length. Overall, a nice beer which goes down easily for the abv. My only complaint is the slight diacetyl, but regardless, Brau Brothers are definitely upping their game. Old rating: 8/4/8/3/15 = 3.8
Re-rate: Peach is very dominant in this bottle. Didnít get any diacetyl this time, and alcohol is quite restrained. Overall, I think I prefer the Rye Wyne, but this is really solid. Bumping a couple of tenths, and further increasing my respect for some of the beers Brau Brothers are turning out these days.
