COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged for several months in used, Templeton rye whiskey barrels, this Belgian style ale combine the best of the brewhouse with the best of the cellar. A relatively simple malt bill utilizes the finest two row pilsner malt, with just a touch of crystal and aromatic malt. A generous amount of house-made dark candi beet sugar is added for both color and flavor.

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2013 [Bottle] Pours reddish brown with a decent beige head which fades fairly rapidly. Definite barrel presence in the aroma with a good deal of whiskey, mild to moderate alcohol, decent fruitiness too, with blackberry and black cherry. Taste definitely improves with warming, with lots of cherry and oak. Some diacetyl shows up, but not enough to ruin the beer, and it is quickly followed by a nice barley backbone. Alcohol is once again fairly restrained at first, although gets significantly stronger as it warms. I got some strawberry jam taste towards the end of my time drinking the beer. Average mouthfeel and finish length. Overall, a nice beer which goes down easily for the abv. My only complaint is the slight diacetyl, but regardless, Brau Brothers are definitely upping their game. Old rating: 8/4/8/3/15 = 3.8

Re-rate: Peach is very dominant in this bottle. Didnít get any diacetyl this time, and alcohol is quite restrained. Overall, I think I prefer the Rye Wyne, but this is really solid. Bumping a couple of tenths, and further increasing my respect for some of the beers Brau Brothers are turning out these days.

750ml wax top. Pours murky brown with a small off white head. Huge fruit and whiskey to the nose. Some wood and lingering sweetness also. Very smooth drinking and packed with dark fruit, whiskey, caramel, and more. Better as it warmed up. Awesome beer

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, dark brownish red pour with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of dark fruit, cocoa powder, hints of slight caramel, toffee, molasses notes, lots of spice, hints of earth. Taste is a mix of dark fruit, spice, lots of dark sugars with caramel and molasses, slight grassy notes with hints of oak, bourbon, and slight vanilla, finishing fairly bitter, dry.

Bottle. Copperish amber with a big white head. Aroma and taste are both dominated by the barrel. Some strong fruitiness and prominent malt. Medium mouthfeel. Something is a little off about this one but it's not horrible. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle:   Deep reddish caramel in color, moderate frothy sandy head, fairly nice lacing.   Moderate whiskey nose, slight dark pitted fruit.   Noticeable alcohol.   Very vinous like on the tongue, dark pitted fruit, with whiskey like warmth on the backside.   Seems like a bunch of whiskey infused raisins or something.   Not as big in body as I would have liked.   Lots of dark pitted fruit and alcohol on the finish.   Tangy/tart finish.   Loads of alcohol linger.   Really needs some malty sweetness to balance this one out.   Its decent tho, but HOT!

Shared a 750 of this with friends today. The smell is a bit off putting, but it tastes alright I guess. I donít get a ton of barrel from this and while I get some sweetness from the whiskey, itís not very good.

Bottle pours orange brown with one finger muddy white head. Aroma of dark fruits and faint whiskey. Taste initially sweet with whiskey and malts, dark fruits. As it warms the sweetness fades. Finish sour. Palate thick.

Initially flavor excellent but just couldnít maintain it. I just donít think the underlying quad is strong enough to support the barrel aging. I love quads and barrel aged beers so had high hopes that this couldnít quite live up to.
