Elisha’s Olde Ale is an ale we brewed with Minnesota and South Dakota Homebrewers here in Lucan. It’s an excellent olde ale cracking 10%, brewed with molasses, and aged on lightly toasted oak. This is the winner of the 2009 Brau Bros SD Homebrewers Challenge. We’ll release about 100 cases sometime in February 2010.

Sweet aromas of caramel, raisin, fig, dark fruits. Malt dominated brew, slight note of oak. I must admit, this is pretty tasty. Could use a little more carbonation. Best served at a warmer temperature. Might be my favorite from Brau thus far.

750 ml bottle shared by phaleslu. Pours a dark copper brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, brown sugar, dark fruits, oak barrel with a hint of earth and light bitterness to the finish. Some signs of oxidation, but this is solid enough.

750ml bottle, shared by phaleslu. Clear brown color. Bubbly little off-white head. Nutty aroma. Medium-plus body. Light carbonation. More dry in the texture. Good lace. Some dark fruit. Light caramel. Little cooked vegetable. Sweeter taste, light bitter. Good, long aftertaste. Just a very light bite in the finish. I think some of the original flavor may have dropped off, but it’s a solid strong ale still

750 ml bottle I’ve had since early-mid 2010 (released February 2010), and I’ve since forgotten where I got it. Thanks, friendly RB trader! Pours a clear amber with a beige ring for a head. Aroma of caramel, oak, dried fruits, brown sugar, and some earth. Flavor of caramel, toast, brown sugar, dates, and some bitter earty notes at the end. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry, malty mouthfeel. Good old ale. Has held up well over 3+ years.

750 ml bottle to snifter (thanks phaleslu). Looks good; a semi-opaque caramel with thin off-white lacing. Smells solid: pleasantly oxidized hops with a heavy caramel and toffee presence. Pleasant on the palate. Good beer.

Pours a hazed copper color with a finger of off-white head. Smells fairly typical for an old ale: toffee, brown sugar, and toasted malt with some hints of dark fruit. Has a bit of a soy sauce aroma to it, though. The flavor is slightly watery, but still has that soy sauce thing going on. There’s a mild roasted quality as well as some toffee, toasted malt, and sweet sugar. Maybe just a hint of fruit.

Bottle. Pours reddish copper with minimal off-white head; spare lacing. Aroma is caramel with roasted and biscuit malt. Flavor matches the nose with booze undertones throughout. Medium/full body, carbonation, and warmth.
