COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Forgotten Flem is a fitting tribute to the many Belgian Farmers who settled the prairies of Southwest Minnesota. Brewed in a farmhouse brewery within feet of hop bines and barley fields, Forgotten Flem Ale is a product of genuine ingredients and classic brewing technique. Multiple yeast strains drive complexity and months of aging develop nuanced yet distinct flavors. Even today it’s not unusual to hear the thick accents of French and Belgian Farmers in and around Lucan. We’re very pleased to offer them a taste of home!

12 oz bottle from Princeton’s. Dark golden color pour with a foamy white head. Aroma has some nice spices, some yeast and a bit of funk but nothing too overpowering. Flavor is a bit dry with some more spices and a bit of a hoppy funky finish.

Not a fan. Tastes like an over ripe piece of old fruit. Tastes spoiled. Barely finished the half a bottle I had.

12 oz bottle; thanks Tyler!! Pours clear dark orange with huge, eggy white head fading slowly; earthy lemons, mild spice, maybe some rye; grassy and light wheat; drinks with a doughy dryness and stale lemons; chalky dryness in the finish; not sure what it is, but there is a spice or malt type rubbing me the wrong way; kind of think it’s rye; either way, it works more in the aroma than it does flavor wise

Bottle from Merwin Liquor, Falcon Hts. Gold color and a very tall, long lasting, white head. Aroma has lots of brett. Flavor is dry with more yeast, as well as an herbal character with dry grass. Bone dry finish.

One of the more interesting and unique beer names I’ve seen. The beer itself is a hazy golden color with a large light beige head with good retention. Aroma is black pepper and lemons. Taste is similar. More peppery and bitter than most saisons, and not quite as funky or barnyardy, if that’s a word.

Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Gold in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of green hops, aloe, and dry hay. Iron-like minerals upfront in the mouth, followed by orchard fruit, pilsner malt, and grassy hops. Quite dry on the palate, in keeping with the style. A solid saison.

[Bottle] Forgotten Flem? I’m sorry, but despite the spelling differences, the name of this still makes me think of something that somebody with a bronchial infecetion hacked up and forgot about. Not a good image to start out my trial of this, but obviously I’m not going to take points off for it. The beer does look great--hazy amber with a billowing off-white head that takes forever to subside. Aroma is just a musty barley, and that is about it. Not terrible, just very, very plain. Taste is...whoa, something is wrong here. Biting astringency overpowers the other flavors that although a little too malt-driven, otherwise seem like they could have been okay. Medium-mouthfeel, very dry, long finish where the barley dominates. I’m going to hope that this is a bad bottle and/or batch, and give this a shot again next time that I know fresh stuff is around.

Bottle. Clear light orange pour, plenty of carbonation and a good funky aroma. Flavor is light lemon citrus, some good funky flavors along with a good slightly bitter aftertaste. Decent.

The body is hazy medium copper with a yellow tinted thick head. The nose is crusty bread and banana peels along with a little bit of sweet pineapple sherbet. The taste is that sweet pineapple sherbet balanced with the bite of grapefruit peel of the hops. There is also a little bit of dough and cobwebs. A little funk comes through in the finish, like reconstituted lemon juice mixed with a little cardboard.
