COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Frame Straightener is the follow-up to our initial release in the Single Batch series of beers. A traditional take on a classic style, 100% of the malt bill is Belgian in origin. This pale ale is infused with just enough French Strisselspalt hops. Easily a session ale, it begins with malt and plum; earthy and complex. It finishes with a hint of clove and fennel, keeping a peasant bread characteristic throughout.

(Bottle) Pours a cloudy amber body with a small yellowish head. Aroma of banana, caramel, dark fruit, and herbs. Flavor of sweet caramel malt, baked apple, and nuts.

It may not straighten your frame but it will put hair on your chest. I found some fruity resonances--o.k., if they call it "plum" I’ll let them get away with that--in the clear caramel-colored body. But the overwhelming character that suggests plum to me is the sourness, like an under-ripe plum. Not really bready, not really Belgian at all. I’ve never had "French Strisselspalt"’ hops before, at least knowingly. I don’t know that it matters. The front is so obviously sour that you’d have to enjoy infected beers to like this. Bottle.

Poured into a weizen glass, and got a decent layer of head and some lacing. Color is very unique. Dark, cloudy orange/brown. Aroma is a smokey/fruity smell. Very unique. Taste is very similar. It is as if someone set out some fruit by a bonfire. Not very appealing. Mouthfeel is smooth, but the taste is so punishable, that you don’t want it in your mouth for very long. Overall, I will not be coming back to this beer. At $9 for a six-pack, I can get something much better. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 12-08-2008 01:43:51

A- Body is a dark hazy plum color that pours with a very small off white head. Head fades immediately and leaves nothing behind in the glass. Cloudiness is thick and dynamic. S- Sour plum, dark fruit, bready yeast. T- Very fruity and a bit tart. Lots of plums come through as well as some bready yeast. Finish is consistent with the start. P- Medium body and medium carbonation. O- No idea why this is considered a Belgian Pale by Brau Brothers because it is nowhere near that...Belgian influenced...yes...but its not even pale. Decent beer overall...but nothing impressive. Definitely worth a try Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 02-17-2009 01:34:35

Had during a sampling at a Hy Vee Wine & Spirits. Good, but disappointing. Nice yeast character but a lame malt backing.

Bottle in a Springfield hotel room. Bottle poured a dull, dirty amber color. Honestly this beer sucks. I couldn’t even guess what style this was. Has definitely gone sour and is just a total mess. Of the infected beers I have had, this is probably the worst.

shared with unclemike Light hops and grain on the aroma. Orange copper color that’s crips and clear with high carbonation. Light bready body with some faint yeast on the finish. A little chemical hint on the finish

Smell of slight citrus i am thinking oranges, clear amber color, first sip has the usual belgian notes but a grassy aftertaste. Not that good for a limited release.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2008 This didnt smell all that bad, Pours amber color, a little head. This bottle tasted infected, sour in a bad way, maybe its just a batch we got in Iowa. Didnt care to taste it again before pouring it out.

Not sure what the Brau Brothers were trying to accomplish with this, but the only thing Belgian about this beer is that there are no hops and it is sour. Not a good lactic sour, but rather an infected acetic sour. Try again Bros.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Surprised. Decent Belgian Ale from a no-name brewery. Not too complex, but decent. Many more positive qualities than negative. I wouldnt go looking for it again, but if it was offered Id take it.
