From the bottles this beer has a slightly different color for a beer its not blond and its not golden. Aroma is good, taste is ok.

On tap at the brewery. The brewer is now calling this Brau Extra Pale Ale, but it is essentially the same, I suppose. This IPA has a wonderful citrus aroma from the generous hops. Pours a golden color. Very little head, but the lacing was outstandingly beautiful in the pint glass. The up-front bitterness shakes hands with your tongue. Very nice strong bitter flavor that is not hophead overpowering. The hop bite settles over to the sides of your tongue smoothly giving this beer a wonderful palate. Great finish. This was easily my favorite of the servings at this new brewpub started by a 27 year old brewer, Dustin Brau.

a very dark IPA. unique, not as hoppy as i’d expect, but the gravity was there. the brewer said that he supplements his higher gravity beers with extract.... sweet, fruity, malty, full of flavor.

2004 Autumn Brew Review: Reddish Coloring. Small Head. Hops and Malts in This One...Unbalanced With Malts Dominating. A bit Different.

2004 ABR. Lack of hops in the aroma. All malt. Very dark with reddish hue. Large, light tan head, large bubble. Doesn’t look or taste like an IPA. No hops. Molasses juice? Appearance is nice, but took off a point for not sticking to style.

Much better than the cream stout. This dark ipa is full of fruit and floral aromas. In the taste more more citrus fruit. Hops are there but not too bitter. Sweet.

Autumn Brew Review 2004. Oddly enough, this has a very red body with a thin head. Again on the odd side, the aroma is much more malty than hoppy. Hmmm... the taste is fairly dry like an IPA, but the malt overwhelms whatever hops are added. I’m not sure if this is on purpose, but it certainly is not the typical take on IPA. Not too bad, just not a great example of the style.
