COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You heard it right, releasing on January 24th, our first and only Imperial Stout! Definately an American take on the style. A ton of hops are used, throughout the boil, both to balance the massive amount of malt, and also to add hop flavor and aroma. A complex malt bill blends a variety of roasted malts pushing the ABV to just under 10%. Look for it on tap and in four packs very soon!

3/23/13 9.5% LOOK: very dense dark brown/black with thin dark mocha head NOSE: strong black coffee, 80% dark dusty cocoa, roasted malts, hint of hops TASTE: not too much sweetness (which is kinda nice), dark dusty chocolate, gritty coffee, some hoppiness, nice tangy bitter coffee and chocolate finish FEEL: thick but not syrupy, dry and gritty and that's not bad! OVERALL: nice to find a big 'ol stout in this style that's not so sweet and rich...kinda like an Espresso Yeti without the oak...very good! ...Room temp ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a 12 oz bottle shared in the Airstream. Pours black with a tan head. Slight medicinal notes in the aroma. Flavors are of chocolate, some licorice and bitter coffee. Medium bodied. Lingering bitter roasted finish.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours dense pitch black color with a small dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Slight spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, molasses, raisin, licorice, coffee, light char, and roasted/fruity earthiness. Nice aromas with solid complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and fruity ester notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, dark bread, roasted malt, coffee, toast, light char, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Light roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, dark bread, coffee, toast, light char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt and light hop flavors; with a nice roasted sweetness/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a nice creamy and lightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Russian imperial stout. Good complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Sampled at the Rapids Liquor Tasting. Pours a dark brown. Taste and feel overall is dry with cocoa, but lacking the richness and sweet balance up front.

Looked remarkably flat, even with an aggressive pour. Fortunately not as flat as it looks. Flavors of dark chocolate, licorice, plums and hints of cream and toffee. Nice tasting beer.

12oz bottle from thehoff. Poured a medium density dark black with a smaller foamy beige head. Aroma has some green veggies, green peppers, syrupy dark chocolate, burnt malts, soy. Thicker body that is syrupy with light carbonation and a dry finish. Flavor > aroma, notes of burnt toast, charcoal, dark chocolate, soy. Good stuff, thanx Kyle.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a black color with a small white head. A smoky cherry nose. The flavor is dominated by dry black Licorice and ash, smoke, dark chocolate. A bit unusual. Mineral flavors. Roasted malts. Interesting. Good.

I drank this in honor of my buddy, Jazz88, who made partner at his law firm--there will be more beers toasted when weíre next together. This beer was an o.k. toast to it but not great. Bittersweet, used by another rater, is the right one, as the sweetness pops through at odd moments. But the basic complexion of this isnít bad--roasted and chocolate, moderate weight and palate, reasonably drinkable. Bottle.

I thought maybe mine was bad somehow but after reading some reviews maybe not. Seemed like no carbonation. No head. Big alcohol in the taste. I didnít even want to finish it.

Bottle. Dark cola color with very little head. Aroma is dark roasted grain, with butter and molasses. Flavor matches the aroma. Palate is fairly light and has a bittersweet finish.

Beer pours black with basically no head. After some swirling there is a beige ring of foam around the glass. Iím getting milk chocolate, slight coffee, some dark fruit, maybe plum or date. Maybe a tanic grain note. Some molasses. Sweet chocolate taste with a coffee bitterness. Some molasses in the middle. Mild carbonation and a medium body. Mild alcohol burn. Decent tasting beer, a bit of a different RIS.
