COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moo Joos combines the full body of a Milk Stout with the silky smoothness of an Oatmeal Stout. Lactose sugar in the boil contributes a full and creamy mouthfeel while toasted and flaked oats in the mash round out the beer with an oily texture. A deep malt bill builds layers of roasty notes with hints of chocolate, coffee and anise. A traditional British Cask Yeast is then pitched, which leaves us with a fruity, malty ale.

Heavily roasted grain. Black beer. Medium sweet with lactose. Clear, smooth palate. A solid lacto/sweet stout.

Black pour from a 12oz bottle. Small brown head. Aroma of a chocolate milk shake with added coffee. Lactose and cocoa everywhere. Flavor is very sweet and milky as well. Has a slight sourness to it...this concerns me slightly. That being said, this is mostly what I look for in a milk stout. HUGE milkiness is a big plus!

Poured into a snifter. 3.0 A: Black color. Just about one finger of light brown head that fell quickly and left no lacing. 5.0 S: Wonderful interplay of lactose and chocolate. Actually, there’s a good hit of coffee in there as well, so this is much like a mocha latte. Light roastiness and plenty of oats. This is incredibly intense, but also incredibly appealing. Excellent! 4.5 T: Taste is a lot like the nose. Lactose, chocolate, and coffee flavors do the trick again. Oats, a light roastiness, and grainy malts add complexity. Really nice again. 4.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Reasonably creamy and insanely smooth. 5.0 D: The taste could have easily been a five. This is a damn tasty brew and shockingly close to Cowbell in terms of flavor profile and quality. I think I need to get ahold of several more of these. 12oz bottle. Dark pour with a soft creamy head. Blandish aroma. Chocolate malts with a tad bit of coffee. Flavor carries a little bit of milk lactose sense with chocolate but nothing that really blows me away. Fairly good but I’ve certainly had better.

Black w/ brown head. Coffee & chocolate on the nose. Roasted malt, milk chocolate, dark fruit, coffee & a bit of vanilla. Taste is quite mellow and creamy - very nice texture. Medium body. They did this very well.

Pours a deep black with minimal head. There are some chocolate and coffee flavors at work. Unfortunately, there’s also an undeniable hint of leather in the background.

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2012 Tried again. The ashtray finish is even worse with some weird tang. The sweet smelling brew makes me think of milk chocolate and roasted peanuts. There is also a little bit of dough. This tastes with cola with a little bit of chocolate syrup. There is also some light booze and tobacco ashtray in the finish. The body is perfectly black with a very thin tan head. This is ok, but nothing special.

Thanks to mnbearsfan for this 12 oz bottle via trade. Poured a thin black with a mocha/tan small one-finger head. Nose was some smoke/ash, chocolate, molasses and brown sugar. Taste was vanilla, oatmeal, chocolate and coffee as was expected, but also some fruit (cherries?). Body was smooth but thin with medium carbonation. Overall, a good offering in a style I like, but I have found others I like more.

Near black with a quickly fading brown head. Very rich, malty aroma with a light smokey note. Moderately sweet turns to a slight bitter finish. Smooth, but lighter than expected, fizzy.
