COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moo Joos combines the full body of a Milk Stout with the silky smoothness of an Oatmeal Stout. Lactose sugar in the boil contributes a full and creamy mouthfeel while toasted and flaked oats in the mash round out the beer with an oily texture. A deep malt bill builds layers of roasty notes with hints of chocolate, coffee and anise. A traditional British Cask Yeast is then pitched, which leaves us with a fruity, malty ale.

12oz bottle. Dark pour with a soft creamy head. Blandish aroma. Chocolate malts with a tad bit of coffee. Flavor carries a little bit of milk lactose sense with chocolate but nothing that really blows me away. Fairly good but I’ve certainly had better.

Black w/ brown head. Coffee & chocolate on the nose. Roasted malt, milk chocolate, dark fruit, coffee & a bit of vanilla. Taste is quite mellow and creamy - very nice texture. Medium body. They did this very well.

Pours a deep black with minimal head. There are some chocolate and coffee flavors at work. Unfortunately, there’s also an undeniable hint of leather in the background.

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2012 Tried again. The ashtray finish is even worse with some weird tang. The sweet smelling brew makes me think of milk chocolate and roasted peanuts. There is also a little bit of dough. This tastes with cola with a little bit of chocolate syrup. There is also some light booze and tobacco ashtray in the finish. The body is perfectly black with a very thin tan head. This is ok, but nothing special.

Thanks to mnbearsfan for this 12 oz bottle via trade. Poured a thin black with a mocha/tan small one-finger head. Nose was some smoke/ash, chocolate, molasses and brown sugar. Taste was vanilla, oatmeal, chocolate and coffee as was expected, but also some fruit (cherries?). Body was smooth but thin with medium carbonation. Overall, a good offering in a style I like, but I have found others I like more.

Near black with a quickly fading brown head. Very rich, malty aroma with a light smokey note. Moderately sweet turns to a slight bitter finish. Smooth, but lighter than expected, fizzy.

Thanks to Bob for the bottle! Poured clear, deeper ambery-brown with a sticky cap of dark tan head.. looked very good in the glass. The aroma picked up sweet, milky chocolates and buttery notes with a hint of molasses-crusted biscuity notes beneath.. sweet, smooth, and very desserty impression.. I very much enjoyed it. The flavor found buttermiky-y chocolates, smooth rolled oats, and vanilla at the core, with light earthy and cocoa bitterness around.. more milky chocolates and complementary roasted bitterness on the finish. Medium-bodied with a very smooth feel across the palate.. the levels and placement of bitterness and roast worked perfectly.. just excellent stuff. This was surprisingly good, and I hope more people get to try it when it’s fresh.

Among the best Brau Brothers brews, has a little coffee flavor in it, then then oatmeal smoothness takes over. Only has a hint of the milk influence, overall its a good ale.

Pours black with a thin beige head that has great retention. Aroma is roast, chocolate, grain, earth and planty hops. Flavor is roast, chocolate, an odd nutty note, sort of like what comes out as a nutty note to me in some cheddar cheeses, not a bad way to be likened to cheese for a beer... Medium, sticky entry leading to an oily finish and a moderate carbonation. Not bad at all.

Pours a very dark brown with a big tan head that leaves good lace. The aroma is lots of unripe fruit as it pours from the bottle. As the beer settles into the glass the aromas of smoke, cheap coffee, and copper show up. There is a nice bit of chocolate in the aroma as well. The flavor is really pretty bitter and fairly dry for a sweet stout. There is a nice burnt toast flavor along with a good bit of cocoa and a very reserved sweetness. There is some odd apple rind throughout.
