COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moo Joos combines the full body of a Milk Stout with the silky smoothness of an Oatmeal Stout. Lactose sugar in the boil contributes a full and creamy mouthfeel while toasted and flaked oats in the mash round out the beer with an oily texture. A deep malt bill builds layers of roasty notes with hints of chocolate, coffee and anise. A traditional British Cask Yeast is then pitched, which leaves us with a fruity, malty ale.

chinchill (3130) - South Carolina, USA - SEP 5, 2013
12 oz bottle, unbdated, poured into a SA lager glass. A: pour is clear and very dark brown but looks pitch black in the glass. A gentle pour is needed to keep the tall mocha head from going over the top. Glass is thoroughly coated upon tilting, with some lacing clinging the glass afterwards. Smell: Sweet and rich with a suggestion of cinnamon, a clear note of chocolate, oat bread, a touch of dark fruit, and a hint of granola. Very slighty, and pleasantly, boozy. Taste: not quite as good or complex as the aroma, but still quite good. Sweet up front but balanced by the finish. Hints of coffee, dark fruits and chocolate in the aftertaste. M - Full bodied; very smooth; ABV seems hight than 6%. O: very nice cross-over (milk + oatmeal) stout with a super aroma.

Bottle - Pours black with a foamy tan head. Nose is milky dark malt, a touch of coffee, milk chocolate--and because itís in the description, I do get some anise/fennel notes. Definitely has that oatmeal stout smoothness. Taste is the same. Itís sweet, but itís tempered by the oatmeal milkiness. Subtle ashy roast in the finish, with dark malt all the way through. Pretty thin bodied, but velvety smooth and fluffy. Very nice beer.

The taste is has some nice smooth chocolate with some creamy sweetness. The mouthfeel is almost velvety, very very smooth, but somewhat light. Overall, I honestly canít find anything that I really donít like about this brew. Itís incredibly drinkable. Awesome stuff.

On tap, deep black with a medium tan head leaving a light lacing. Aroma is of caramel and coffee. Surprisingly light in body and oily, finishes clean. Tasted medium sweet and lightly bitter, chocolate and coffee. Overall, a great stout. Pairs well with a hearty meal (Shepherds Pie).

Bottle. Pours black with a small head that quickly fades to a ring. Aroma is nice, chocolate milk, light roasted coffee, anise, and a light fruitiness. Taste is a tad bland but not bad. Chocolate, coffee, anise, and cream, but all are muted. Medium to thick body, very creamy, slight chalky too. Ok sweet stout.

This stout poured a deep black colour with a dark brown head. Scents include cocoa, coffee and caramel. First sip was silky smooth with flavours of lite chocolate and coffee flavours. Finish is burnt and black coffee like. Burnt flavour lingers....

Smells and looks like the groundcover of unsaid northeastern woodlands. Indeed, it tastes more like actual dirt and wet wood than most - which is to say, lots of burnt oat effect. In moments, I appreciated the overstatement - but not a beer Iíd get again.

Bottle thanks to randomgarbage. Pours very dark brown with tan brown head. Nose and taste of lactose, burnt oatmeal, burnt coffee, burnt chocolate, dry grain, burnt toast and burnt licorice. Lighter bodied.

tmoreau (3001) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JUN 24, 2013
Gift bottle brought back by neighbors from latest Minn. trip. Poured to a Czech-pils glass showing a ruby highlighted, black/brown color, with a brownish tan, froth & bubbles head that gradually diminished to a thick ring & bubbly film, and curtainy cling to the lacing. The nose was a hint of sweetness, creaminess & smooth malt, roastiness, cocoa, a touch of vanilla, and coffee/espresso on the back. Medium+ bodied, the flavor presented a roasty, smokey, lingering bitterness that was propelled to the palate by an amped effervescence. Only medium malt backup, with the flaked creaminess more prevalent in the aroma imo. Finished with some tart and dry astringency.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours near black with a dark brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma roasted malts and tobacco with a bit of sweet chocolate underlying. Flavor has more sweet chocolate and sweet dark grains with a bit of a tobacco bite towards the finish.
