COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moo Joos combines the full body of a Milk Stout with the silky smoothness of an Oatmeal Stout. Lactose sugar in the boil contributes a full and creamy mouthfeel while toasted and flaked oats in the mash round out the beer with an oily texture. A deep malt bill builds layers of roasty notes with hints of chocolate, coffee and anise. A traditional British Cask Yeast is then pitched, which leaves us with a fruity, malty ale.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a snifter. Pours a still, dark brown to black. The aroma has nice coffee, chocolate, roasty, and lactic sweetness. Some burnt caramel comes through as well. The taste is like a choclate covered espresso bean. Really like the way this beer tastes. I wish this had a little more carbonation. Thatís all thatís really keeping this beer from being a standout.

Bottle from khoffman43 pours deep dark amber with a tan head with little retention. Nose of coffee grinds. Taste begins with coffee grinds, light chocolate. Mild bitterness as most of balance comes from the roast. Body is medium, if not a tad thin.

Bottle pour. Really like the creaminess here. Good malty character balanced out with the earthy oats.

a nice combination of a milk and an oatmeal stout. it has an interesting dry aftertaste, which is very appealing.

Mandatory - serve at near room temperature, otherwise itís character falls apart. Pour is still dark coffee brown with shallow, nicely laced, brief, coffee-cream head. Aroma is chocolate/treacle, vanilla/butterscotch. Taste coffee and near burnt toast with a sweet center. Medium body slighlty salt with a sweet dark toast finish, leaving a sweet coating in the mouth. Pleasantly drinkable. Original review of slight chilled bottle. Pours dark coffee brown with shallow, nicely laced, brief, coffee-cream head. Aroma is chocolate, treacle and nearly burnt toast. Medium body, a slight effervescence under the tongue. Initially sweet, then bittersweet chocolate, slight saltiness, and that near burnt toast finish that lingers on the palate. Overall itís drier then then I would expect from the oatmeal/milk designation. I wanted to like it more.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, beige head, over a clear dark brown (SRM 35) body.....nose is chocolate. light coffee, toffee/caramel....taste is sweet chocolate, coffee, toffee/caramel, finishing with a hint of bitterness.....mouth feel thick, slightly creamy, carbonation accentuates creaminess. This falls well within the style of Sweet Stout and meets it quite well. For me, it is a bit too sweet, but it is the style. BJCP 8/3/14/4/7

Black/mocha color, thin tan head. Aroma mostly milk chocolate, slight coffee. Light to medium body..too thin. Seems watered down to me.

$2 single at HyVee, Ankeny, IA. Nice sweet cocoa nose from the first pour. Filling a whole glass just brings out more of that milk chocolately goodness. Brownish-black in the glass, with a thick brown head. Taste is not as sweet as the nose would lead you to expect, but thatís not a bad thing. Instead, I get a regular malty sweetness of dark roast malt without being overdone. Not that estery, instead a good balance of malt with, well, malt. Bitterness is just there for support, except for a slight tickle at the top of the palate. Plenty of body to this, even though it goes down easily and quickly. Now Iím wishing these guys would expand to our area.

Pours a dark brownish black pour with a beautiful large mocha head. Nose is chocolate, coffee, licorice and malty. Taste is full of malt, with sweet chocolate, and espresso. Finish is sweet and slightly bitter, nice sweet stout. Quaff 8 / 10

Pours brown with a frothy, e tan head and sweet aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is toasty and burnt, of roasted malt, chocolate, and caramel with a long, toasty finish. A nice, solid sweet stout.
